Several Beginner Rules Questions
« on: December 18, 2009, 11:25:53 AM »
Hello all, I just started playing LotRTCG and I have a few questions that I cannot noodle out from the Comprehensive Rules after reading them 5 times.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

1) If I assign a Defender +1 to two minions, does that create one skirmish or two?

2) If healing 5 wounds from a Sanctuary is done "at the start of your turn", does that mean that if I move into a sanctuary on the first move of my turn and then move out of that Sanctuary after the Regroup phase I do not get the healing?  This would seem to me to be the case since I was never at the Sanctuary at the "start of my turn"...

3) Do shadow tokens remain in the pool if I move after the Regroup phase?  (I'm 90% sure the answer is yes, but I want to make sure)

4) The One Ring explaination in the starter rulebook is completely contradictory of the card text of The Ruling Ring.  When can I put the Ring on?  The starter book makes it sound like you can do it any time, the card makes it sound like you can only do it in response to a wound in a skirmish involving the Ring-Bearer.

Again, thanks in advance for any answers.

Well welcome, I'll try to answer to your questions:

1) I think it creates just one skirmish.

2) I think that you can heal your companions at the start of the Fellowship Phase, but I'm not quiet sure.

3) YES!

4) I had this problem but there's another Rule in the Rulebook, which says that if a card makes you break the rules, the card has priority. The Rulebook is just giving an example how a ring could be, mixing Isildur's Bane and the Ruling Ring. Just follow the explanations of the card.

P.S.: It would be nice if you would post your Have/Wants List, so that we can trade some cards. At the beginning, just post your Rares and Foils (and maybe also the Promos) and then, you can add the U/Cs later.

The problem is that (from my reading) you do not return to your Fellowship phase if you move a second time in a turn, you proceed directly back to the Shadow phase.

I am currently in the heavy acquisition phase as I just got into the game, but once I get some excess cards, I'll be sure to post some Haves/Wants :)  I love being able to buy a box of this stuff for $10  ;D

1) A single skirmish.
2) You heal at the start of your TURN, *not* the start of your Fellowship. But either way, if you skip a sanctuary (i.e. by moving past it), tough luck on healing. Hence some strategy.
3) Yes.
4) Different rings can be put on at different times and have different effects. Just follow the ring's own game text.

Well, I think that there are many players that are able to sell you some of their Commons/Uncommons even if they aren't listed in their tradelists.
See, I started to play a couple of years ago, and in Switzerland, where LotR TCG was never released!
And even with that, I posted some of my Cards in here, and ... I am able to trade my cards!
See, so, no problem for you!
