ROTEL
« on: January 13, 2010, 10:31:42 AM »
SO what's the deal with the Realms of the Elf Lords set? It is incredibly difficult to find anywhere and other forum posts allude to its nonexistence in the present. What happened? I was lucky enough to buy many packs of it back in the olden days, but booster boxes now seem nowhere to be found...

It was an okay expansion. Not great, or anything.

I thought it was a great expansion at the time. Saruman, Long-knives, Boromir, Palantir, to name a few.

Yeah, at the time. But I would pay for Fellowship or Mines any day, but then again, I did not have a Gondor or Elven or Uruk deck.

I played a dwarven/sauron deck, as usual, so it wasn't too exciting (Book of Mazarbul was good though)

RotEL was much better than MoM.

Really, hard to find? That stinks, as I used to have a couple dozen boxes...
Should have saved them for now. Then again, I got them at a discount price of $50 each, which is probably still more than they are worth today.

Wow,  I can't believe I forgot Bill the Pony, Aragorn HTTWC, Elrond, Shire Countryside, etc. ROTEL really was awesome. And still is.

Thanks guys.

plus frying pan, fireworks and frodos pipe made pipe decks more playable... i thought the funniest cards were hide and seek + seek and hide... they will never stop hunting you is one of my favorite nazzie pictures... citadel of minas tirith and might of numenor we must go warily which was the best common until errata... and it hade dangerous gamble, which while a useless card was my first foil :)

Back before shadows, ROTEL was among the best sets on the market.

ROTEL is so good that a lot of cards from this set got X-listed.

I really like the set, as well. But then again sets 1-10 are all pretty much spot on. I think those movie block sets will appreciate slowly but surely.

I wish I had the time right now to play FotR league. I hope it is still around in February...
