anybody got $10M they can lend D to buy it?

course, even if D did get it back, the old game wouldn't be compatible - anybody who thinks otherwise is dreaming.

I don't say that the swccg is compatible with wotc-products. But maybe because there is still a big playercommunity for sw ccg it might that the old game get's a new life.

But 10m is a lot.. I agree, but then again didn't spyker bought Saab?

i'm not talking at all about wotc's star wars tcg (aka star wars yachtzee)

no, i'm saying that even IF decipher got the sw rights again, and even IF they proceded to start making star wars cards again, THAT game would not be compatible with the old decipher star wars ccg - decipher would make sure of it.

it's all about $, and by this point, swccg is wayyyy too complicated to start selling again from a business standpoint. decipher would be better off cleaning up the game system a bit and starting over with a star wars 2.0. maybe they'd make a format like 1.5 where you could combine the cards, but it wouldn't get a lot of support (kind of like lotr expanded format, yeah?)

Well, I don't know much about Star Wars ccg but I still have about 400 Star Wars TCG cards at home.
Does anyone play or gather them?

Although I think it is highly unlikely for Decipher ever to get that licence, I have to say that as much as I enjoyed SWCCG for years and still enjoy LOTR TCG (When I can find others to play) I would not go near it with a 100 ft pole  (or any other game that is produced by them).  I used to be a very large supporter of Decipher since around the Dagobah expansion, and they have utterly ruined any form of respect I ever had for that company.

I bought alot of LOTR TCG, SWCCG, Young Jedi, and dabbled in Star Trek and Jedi Knights when I was loyal to Decipher.

STCCG 2E was a great reboot of a game that I couldn't stand.  Wars did a lot to fix trouble-spots in Star Wars, so in some parallel universe where D didn't foul up their business with bad business decisions/nepotism, I'd be all over a SWCCG 2E.

Did you ever read Warrne's letter to his family?  Its like a 20 page letter that details everything that J.O. brother-in-law of his did to steal from Decipher, and then his efforts to bankrupt the company to hide his theft.  Sickening what he did.  Makes me wonder what could have been if that rat didn't do all that crap...

Don't think that would have changed much.. D lost their license for star wars but that was not for economic reasons. When they knew they would lost the licwnse they wanted to make a last fast profit out og it and then they screwed the game. With lotr it's a different story. They lost the license because they couldn't effort it, however they allready lost a lot of players after mount doom and those players went to versus and later on wow.  By the way wow also seems to become a dead game. Upper Deck lost their license as well. It are bad times for tcg and ccg.

Hmm I had not heard that the WoW license was lost for the TCG.  I have to admit that I have not given hardly any attention to the CCG/TCG market since LOTR TCG was discontinued.  There seems to be way too many games that are produced with just the aim of making a quick buck.  I would love to see a game with the great gameplay such as SWCCG, LOTR TCG, Legends of the 5 Rings, Doomtown, and even the original Middle Earth CCG .  If anybody knows of one let me know.  :-k
