Enquea, LoM deck
« on: March 30, 2010, 08:00:07 AM »
Has anyone made a deck which is entirely based on Ulaire Enquea, LoM?

Given 5 burdens, and using combos like not easily destroyed, ring of rancor, and cards to give me extra twilight, I have found it extremely devasting. The problem of course is consistency, I've never found a good way to add enough burdens consistently without devoting my entire deck to it.

Currently I have tried It wants to be found + the ring is mine. I have tried thin and stretched + desperate defense. And I have tried Gollum, stinker with some gollum wounding (they stole it and promise keeping). Surprisingly to me, the last one has worked the best out of the three.

What are your suggestions?

(edit, March 31)
Here is my current decklist (Partial, using It wants to be found + the ring in mine)
3x Ulaire enquea, LoM
2x NED
4x Ulaire nelya, RiT
4x Ulaire Otsea, RiT
4x It wants to be found
4 or 3 morgul skulker
3x orc ambusher
4x the ring is mine!
2x Black breath
2x Blade tip

It is rather large (38 cards) which I, before now, would have never done. But the free peoples side I am using with it is dwarven, and I often reach the bottom of my deck anyway.

The problem with that is that most decks run Sam SoH (so pack Helpless!!) and with only 1 main minion, they will probably be able to let Sam live.

The problem with Helpless is that it doesn't work with the alternates RBearers.

Throw Yourself in Next Time could be a nice card vs Sam, SoH.

Too bad Helpless is useless if the opponent is running any ringbearer other than Frodo, so most of the time.

I've built a couple decks on this.  My current one uses,  Attea, Wraith on Wings to add burdens.  I use, a whole bunch of cheap [Wraith] orcs along with streaming to the field to get inititive.  Site 9 is slag mounds to further help the corruption cause or feed enquea with ring of ranquor.

Having a whole bunch of orcs all s6 or more makes it hard for Sam to do his thing more than once.  Also, if Sam comes in, even only briefly he will often be the sixth man, so if you have enquea ready, you can make them pay for pulling the burdens.

I tried not easily destroyed in my other deck, but wasn't real happy with the results.  Sort of have to try to hard to make it work.  It might be best to have it in the deck in case you run into an ent horde or something, but don't plan the deck around it.

Burden decks can be hard though because so many decks are very good at pulling burdens.

Helpless works against all of Sam's gametext; read the card again.

The great thing about not easily destroyed is that you don't have to play anything to stop the opponent from double-moving. The possibility of that much twilight is all it takes

I'd second Gwaihir's suggestion. Attea WoW / Streaming to the Field (with a side helping of Morgul Brute, Morgul Destroyer, Morgul Whelp, etc.) for burdens, and Enquea LoM / Ring of Rancor / NED to take down companions. I don't think Gates of the Dead City is necessary, but it's fun if you get the entire package going. I personally wouldn't add Easterlings, in order to keep the deck tight.

I don't mean to ADD easterlings to a deck. What I am asking is whether its possible to add the burdens ENTIRELY using easterlings.

I'm happy to see someone else favoring NED though. These are good suggestions.
