Let me preface this by saying that I don't usually dislike people personally. I used to easily dislike people, but I became pretty apathetic about it.
Can someone please tell me how to deal with demonically lazy coworkers? Me and the crew I normally work with have finished almost all of our work for the next few days (can't do more until the corn grows more) and so we've been asked to help out the soybeans workers.
Alright. One of these soybeans workers is a great worker. Two others are decently good. All the rest actively work at being lazy, loud, and obnoxious idiots. I was busy, working away at gathering tissue samples from the leaves (BORING!) and we were told that we were leaving soon. Meanwhile we corn people have accomplished more in the past two hours that we spent 'helping' than these chumps have accomplished all day, with the exception of the three good workers.
So then, three of them come up and ask my brother if he needs help finishing. He says, in no uncertain terms, "NO." So then they come up to me, and start 'helping' (ie, getting in the way, and making general nuisances of themselves.) So they're slowing me down considerably.
Us corn people have been talking amongst eachother about how useless the soybeans workers are already. So then one of them starts trying to sit down, or something, and they get into a scrap about it, and the one keeps saying "Dude, I swear I'm not going to do anything." A corn person responds: "No kidding." This guy, of course, doesn't make the connection, but whatever.
So I turn to my cousin, who has walked up, and I keep trying to get a chance to mouth to him "Get them out of here!" to have him divert their "aid" away from my work. I don't get a chance to mouth it subtly without being seen too obviously, so I don't.
Afterwards, our conversation went something like this:
ME: I was trying to mouth to you...
COUSIN: (interrupting)Yeah, dude. I know. I saw that smile on your face, and I knew that you wanted to tell me something like "Please, just ****ing
kill them now."
ME: haha... no, I was just going to say "Please get them out of here!"
Anyway, so driving on our way home after work, we were talking about how much we really didn't like these guys. We see in the other lane one of the other corn people. Their window is rolled down, and so my cousin shouts out the window "Don't you hate those soybeans people?" Response, of course, yes.
So we had a conversation at 30 mph until we passed him at a stoplight.
It doesn't really bother me that the soybeans are a bunch of lazy morons. I couldn't care less. What does bother me is that us corn people are now doing a majority of the soybeans' work these days. Granted, we have more people. Granted, we don't have much else to do. But even taking all that into account, we're doing a disproportionate amount of the soybeans' work, while these *******s stand around complaining about the fact that everyone else hasn't finished the field yet, and that htings are going too slow, and that....
Then they're talking about the fact that they dislike one of the other soybeans workers (let's call him Bert. Not his real name. He's the one GOOD soybeans worker, then there's the two decent ones.) Why do they dislike him? Because he "talks like he wants to kill them." Ie, he gets annoyed at them when they stand around. I walk past, and comment "Actually, I like the guy." Of course, it doesn't occur to them why my comment was a vicious insult. (they just said they don't like him, because he doesn't like them 'therefore he's a jerk.' I respond that I *do* like him, by implication because he doesn't like them.) Okay. I don't even know if that part of my rant made sense.
Alright. gotta go. I have more, but I don't have time to complain now. final note: My cousin just read all this and said "hahahaha.... internet bloggin is the first step toward homocide."
