A possession is just something you 'possess' or own. How could something concrete like that carry multiple connotations?
What do you mean by 'possess' or 'own'?
Each individual associates their own meanings to each and every word in their vocabulary.
The meaning of some words is shared to a greater or lesser degree by 'the majority', admittedly, but I believe it is a fundamental truth that no concept is set in stone, or 'concrete' as you would have it. Concepts are ideas and idea are thought. Thought is fluid and subjective, and open to interpretation and reinterpretation.
Anything can carry mulitple connotations.

Of course, that all depends on what you mean by "anything."

Sweet! I was doing some spring-cleaning and getting rid of stuff when I found a box of LotR cards. From what I see it's most of the C's/U's from sets 7, 11, 12 and 13. There's a few rares in there as well. Gonna have to organize it and get this collection going again  :uh-huh:

Interesting conversation.  I guess I will chime in on it.

I don't come around too often except to just check up on things here, and I have not been able to play for some time now.  I have a playset of every card in the game (yes 4 of each and many extras sitting in trade binders) save just a few promo cards, yet the collection has sit for the better part of a year now.  I have had the opportunity to play others once in a great while, but not ver much in the last couple of years.

I could sell the collection in one big lot on Ebay or break it up and sell as singles.  I have actually had the thought a few times.  The binders/boxes in my den are a sad reminder of great times with friends that no longer happen.  But, I am a Lord of the Rings fanatic, and I know I would be kicking myself down the road for selling my playsets.  Its like my Middle Earth CCG collection.  I have not played a game with it in close to 3 years, but I do not think I will ever sell it.

And when FFG comes out with it new LOTR game it looks like I will have a third game to add to the collection...(but some friends are looking forward to that one :))

Yes Sir Yes Sir!  A large group of us used to play in my local area.  Alot of people quit when they hit the reset switch with the War of the Ring block.  Most people wanted to get rid of their collection, so I scarfed them up if they did not want too much for them.

Then a few years ago I came across a sports cards seller that had come across ALOT of boxes from all sets, save Ages End and Treachery and Deceit.  When I asked him how much he wanted for the cards he said "how's $10 a box sound?" (and there were boxes of The Hunters, Rise of Saruman, Expanded Middle Earth, and Reflections in there).  I told him SOLD!!, and wrote out a check to him right there.  If he ever took the time to actually see what some of the boxes were worth he probably kicked himself REALLY hard!  For some of the foils I bought them off Ebay when I found them at decent prices.

I had pictures on an external drive of all the boxes I bought off him, and of the playsets.  If I can find them I will post them for ya.

This could never have happened in the region where I live. We were lucky if we had 4-5 regulars at our weekly game sessions...

I think I would never sell my collection, even if some crazy dude would offer me 10.000 usd. That would be just over my beak even point I think, but the effort I put in it is priceless. Hours and hours spend on collecting, completing my sets, it was my own quest of middle earth. So I would regret it beyond believe.

I have sold out on my self. I now only have movieblock left....

I have sold out on my self. I now only have movieblock left....

Movie block is the most fun overall, so it makes perfect sense to sell off the newer cards - especially since the movie block cards have almost no resale value anymore. I sold my trade cards (1000+ rares and 4000 uc/c's) for about 150 Euros spread over three auctions and that is laughable.

My collection, honestly, is too perfect and complete (All English-language cards, including all foils, a German movie block set, a complete play-set with lots of extras of the "deck staples" and all the paraphenalia). Breaking it up would be a crime.

I play on gemp now and then, and even if I never play a physical game again, I would only sell the cards, if I was in dire straits existentially...

I had a complete set 1-19. But it was only catching dust and I have sold it for around 2500usd. So I was not too dissapointed in the end. No one plays anymore and indeed, movie is the most fun. So I guess I'll play some movie now and then since I have some friends who have movie cards.
