A few Questions
« on: July 27, 2010, 05:11:14 PM »
A few Questions...

If Freca is discarded because the fellowship did not move in the regroup phase is he considered killed?

Can I start The Elven Brother and Glorifindel in the same fellowship? It seem like it would work and have always played that way, but I am confused because I saw a post that said otherwise. Just to be safe I wanted to ask.

If I have Ring of Rancor on my Nazgul and the Freep decides to stay and reconciles can I return the nazgul to my hand? Or does the discard happen before they draw?

Does the start of the archery phase happen one time per archery phase, or does it mean the period in time before you proceed to archery fire?

Where can I find X/R lists for catagories?  What cards can I use in Open? What about Standard or Casual?

I'll can quickly answer a couple of them for you. :-)

Nope, discarded is different than killed.

If I have Ring of Rancor on my Nazgul and the Freep decides to stay and reconciles can I return the nazgul to my hand? Or does the discard happen before they draw?

Yes, you can respond to them reconciling and return the Nazgul to your hand before the discard happens.

Start of phase actions can only be performed once per card. However, if you have 10 cards that says 'At the start of the archery phase...' you can do these 10 actions.

You cannot start Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath and the Elven Brothers.

When you play the first Elven brother, his twilight cost is [3]. The second one's cost is -2, i.e., [1]. Cards are played one at a time.

thanks, that stinks though... Howdah isn't very good now. I have hear differently from Bib Fortuna on the CC forums he usually is pretty good on rulings. Are you 100% sure on this one?

Thank you all have some gold!

Howdah is great! Even if it can only be used once per archery phase.

Speaking of Howdah, would you reccommend running 2x Caravans of the south to reinforce tokens? I had two in the deck but now that it doesn't work the way I thought it did I am not sure... Also is it best to run 4x Elevated Fire 4x Precision Targeting? I will post the deck the whole deck later in one of the deck sections.

I don't like Caravan From The South in an archery deck.

Elevated Fire is a matter of preference, I like using four, other people I know use three often, some people think one or two are enough.

Personally, I don't run precision targeting because I think the cards slots can be better used.

Rapid Reload, GATS, and Gothmog, ML are the way to go.

...and if you don't have those cards, just use precision targeting. ;)

serioously now, I'm lucky to have 3x Gats (and get my 4th soon) so I run 3x Gats, 4x precision targeting 3x Elevated fire and some others. I actually think precision targeting is worth the slot, especially if you just exhausted 2 comps with gats and a pavise, then having even "only" 4 archery with precision targeting can easily ill a comp. but that's just my way to play that Deck. I personally added 3 copies of Bill Ferny, AoS to finish them off in combination with Gats.

and no, no caravans. They really aren't worth the slots. ;)

Thanks Guys for the suggestions

I have GATSx1, Gothmog ML x1 (FOIL is anybody is interested in a trade), since I cannot max out on GATS I think I will use 4x Precision Targeting.

Thanks for the Gothmog ML idea, I usually don't splash culture but this one works amazing with the deck!
