Playing minions during skirmish phase

So, how does this exactly work?

I was under the impression that this is the order the phases take place:

assignment --> skirmish --> assignment for fierce minions --> fierce skirmish --> regroup

Some minions can be played during the skirmish phase and are fierce when they come in. But, when they come in during the skirmish phase, the first assignment phase is already over. does this mean they will fight only once during the "fierce skirmish" phase?

Yes, they can only fight during fierce skirmishes.

so if during the skirmish phase, you play a minion that is not fierce (im not sure if it's possible), that minion won't be fighting any more?

Nope, then it couldn't fight. But I can't think of a situation where that would happen.
