I've only just returned to the game in a big way after a 2.5 yr lay off.  Had never known this site existed back when I was more active, but signed up here less than a week ago.  Has been great looking at decklists and participating in the marketplace.

Would be disappointed to see it disappear right when I just found it ...

TLHH is the last remaining LotR TCG community on the web. Even if some old members fade away, there are some newbies from time to time looking for information, decks, tips or cards. And if this communiy dies, this is the virtual end of LotR TCG on the net...

I am one of those who accidentally googled lotr tcg forum about a week ago and found out the active forum (found couple of them who are completely dead, no one posted from 2005/2006) and then gccg... I think that there are lot of nostalgic people like me who didn't play or heard for the game in the last 5-6-7 yrs and then just came across free online server that has active users...

I am one of those people too. I used to play this game around 2003-05. But cards were not sold in my country and I always bought online. Not that it is a problem but there was noone to play with. Noone knew about it. I had cards from 1-6. And made many decks myself. I taught a LOTR obsessed friend of mine the game. And we used to play with the decks I prepared. Random decks. Most of them were far from ideal. But we had so much fun. But then it became so monotonous to play each other. I got away from the game.

2 months ago while I was cleaning up the attic I found my cards. Over 7000 of them. Got interested again and went online to find tips. And google led me here and then to gccg. I've been playing daily ever since. I am still learning about cards after return of the king... And at the time I have very little to add to TLLH. But gccg has been a joy in my life. I enjoy it very much and in the past 2 months I've seen at least 4 new players just like me accidentily finding out the forum and gccg. They've been playing online ever since.

There will always be new people seeking information and playing partners. There will always be people like me or jahataku. And this is really the LAST homely house.

I think the topic should not be "How important is TLLH/GCCG to you?" But rather "How important is playing lotr tcg to internet?" Because as far as I know this is the only place left.

Some veterans might have moved on with their lives. I might lose interest in the future also. But there will always be new people. There will always be some old player stumbling upon old cards or see a rerun of the movie and remember the game. I think this TLHH/GCCG is the last refuge... It was for me... I'm sure it will be for many others to follow.

(this is going to sound like such spam...)

I've recently stumbled upon http://www.tradecardsonline.com/ and am checking it out.  LotR is an option to play on it and, since I play a variety of games, I'll probably be there more and more.  We might see about merging the community and everything with them.

At the very least, let us know if you're going to take out the database so I can save a copy of every picture...

I found TLHH last September or so. Just a I'm-bored-random search in google. I installed GCCG and play quiet a bit. I have only 4 posts or so but i like to read threads. Specially the Lothlorien forum. I think that something happened this winter. I feel its has been this last few days that have seen a serious diminish in forum activity... I believe is only temporal tho. We can see that this thread has had many responses in a few hours.
Regarding GCCG i think its being paradoxically  more popular these days. Ive seen many new players that may or may not know about TLHH. I think new players will come all the time. And retired ones may return and stay for a while.
I think a merge would be the best option in a long term. But it may be difficult. Perhaps a ladder like the one of winnieInternet back in the day qould be a good idea. We should harvest for ideas among the active players and see what can be acclompished.
Finally  i dont really like NateWinchester idea. I really lije this site and the fact that is focused in LOTR TCG. Also i did'nt like that site.
Lastly i think taht if we can we should bring more people to the game. If each one can get a player on it would be awesome.

I wouldn't be worried about TLHH disappearing as long as there are people who want the site to be here. I hadn't planned to close up shop unless activity gets significantly lower -- and even then I'd probably give it a year after the last post. :P

That is good to hear.

I haven't been addicted to playing GCCG as much as in the old days, but I'd hate to see everyone else lose out. But here's a thought (stirring up the waters):

That PC conversation that keeps going around in circles? If GCCG is tied to TLHH, why not just have a GCCG/TLHH Player's Group?

YES YES YES KRALIK I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!

LOTR doesn't quite give me what I want so I infrequently visit the forums. Occasionally i get the urge to play on GCCG but for the most part dedicate my time to another CCG these days.

I think it is very important for the community that remains for TLHH and GCG to remain. Many card games have life well after they cease production. Many continue on with large support (sometimes this comes well after the game ceased production).

With The Hobbit on the way there is certainly potential for renewed interest and activity in the future.

There's a good bit of nostalgia in it for me. The only reason I still lurk is memories. I first read The Hobbit and LOTR trilogy at age 8, and when a friend introduced me to LotR TCG a few years later it was the coolest game I had ever played. :) I was around 11 when I found Cobra Cards ,and it was my first taste of an internet forums community.  In retrospect I was extremely lucky that everybody was so nice as I was quite a naive sheltered little guy, and probably would have gotten trolled elsewhere. Cobra Cards had originally been a TCG shop that sold LotR TCG, Magic and several other card games, but it eventually developed a strong community that continued on even after Cobra boarded up shop. He probably would still be open today, but LotR TCG was his best seller, and it took a hard hit when Decipher got robbed and Hunters was delayed. Eventually, the lease on the site domain expired- http://www.cobracards.com/ and I figured it was gone for good. Several months late, I discovered TLHH, and although I had mostly stopped playing, I joined up, for old times sake. As of 2011, I haven't played a real game in 3+ years, and although the one friend I used to play SdA with has mentioned digging it up again, for now I am inactive. Anyway, that's the backstory to TLHH (and why this subforum is called the Council of Cobra) and anyone who wants to wander Cobra Cards can do so here:

I reluctantly voted "moving on with my life."   :(

...That said, it would make me very depressed if TLHH was to fade and pass into the West -- so many memories. I dunno how much time I spent here, but it was well worth it. Good times, good times.
It's good to see so many new people keeping the place alive, if not quite as lively as it was back in its heyday.
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

Well, your total time online TLHH was 5 days, 8 hours and 57 minutes.

As for donations -- I'm rather opposed to any money changing hands for what is essentially a hobby of mine. I'm just trying to gauge the interest to consider whether I should host GCCG or not. If I can merge the hosting (TLHH+GCCG), all the better.

I'm so glad to hear this... I played from the very beginning of the game, and just came back to it with my friends, thanks to TLHH (and google :)), and with the forums disappearing we may even stop playing again.

I also play Magic, and use 2 different online clients for it, but I have to say that GCCG exceeds both of them by far, and I played about every day in the in the past month, so it would be awesome to keep it working.
