Faramir BoQ with Rohan (Yes, it does actually make sense...)
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:05:08 AM »
38 cards, But I'm trying to figure how to fit 4 or 5 more in. Everything's pretty self-explanatory in here, but the problem is, I want to throw in Theoden, Northman, King of Rohan x2 or 3, plus Herugrim and a horse for him, and any NFFatRD I can possibly get in there.
But that's at least 4 more cards (preferably more), which bumps this up to 42, which is more than a little large. Gamling sort of cuts down the deck size problem by filtering a little bit of stuff out, but any ideas what this should be paired with/what should be cut in here in order to get Theoden and Nine-Fingered Frodo and the Ring of Doom to work in here?

Faramir, Frodo, and Rohan - 38 cards

Ring & RB
*The One Ring, The Ring of Rings (11R1)
*Faramir, Bearer of Quality (17R28)

Companions (6)
1x *Frodo, Frenzied Fighter (13R149) --starting
1x *Gamling, Defender of the Hornburg (11R147) --starting
4x Soldier of Rohan (17U101)

Conditions (8)
2x A Path Appointed (8U42)
2x Hearts Raised (7R103)
2x Into the Caves
2x Prized Lagan (18U110)

Events (8)
2x Dagger Strike (7C84)
2x Morning Came
4x Where Now the Horse (17U103)

Possessions (15)

1x *Brego (4U263)
1x *Faramir's Bow (4R118)
2x *Faramir's Sword (12R48)
2x *Sting, Bane of the Eight Legs (8R113)
4x Horse of Great Stature (15U129)
1x Long Spear (7C240)
4x Rider's Spear (11S153)

Artifacts (1)

1x *Mithril-coat, Dwarf-mail (13R153)

The idea is that Faramir is an alternate RB who can deal with fighting a few minions without any real negative effects. So what, a few threats? Pretty small drawback, actually. Plus there's the happy fact that Dagger strike works for Faramir or Frodo, and A Path Appointed is pretty dang nice, too.
Frodo's there so that you can assign the ring-bearer without ever risking anything besides the threats, which means that your Soldier of Rohan will be +2 (or 3 if I can get Theoden in there), and Frodo can take over once everyone else is done fighting. Frodo dies? No biggie, Faramir can probably take care of himself anyway, though the speedbump is nice.
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

first of all i've got a question: do you want to play standart or expanded? looks like expanded. to my minde expanded decks are to strenght... ;) you can play this kind of deck very good without "the old cards".

my first impression is that 38 cards are about 3-6 cards to much.
i think 4 horses are to many, so cut 1 or 2. you can also play last days of my house for a better cycling. i miss cards like eomer 15R, aragorn, rohirrm army, erkenbrand...

all in all:

- 2x horse of great stature
- 1x brego
- 4x soldier of rohan
- 1x faramirs bow
- 3x riders spear
- 1x where now the horse
- 2x morning came
- 2x a path appointed
- 1x prized lagan

+ 2x nine-fingered frodo and the ring of doom
+ 3x last days of my house
+ 1x eomer (15R)
+ 1x aragorn (17R)
+ 1x erkenbrand (0P)
+ 1x erkenbrands shield
+ 1x rohirrm army
+ 2x hamstrung

I refer you to my Gandalf RB with RB+ Rohan deck, it works fairly well

43 cards on 1 side isn't too bad as long as you pair them with the right shadow. It's been said before, and I keep repeating myself and others: moria. Scavengers to get scimitars, scimitars to draw cards, host of thousands to play back the scavengers, host of moria plays back the scavengers, so scimitars are played back and cards are drawn....you get the picture.

Sweet... had forgotten entirely about Moria. Dunno why, especially since I was initially considering running Balrogs as the shadow, while I was originally designing the thing. For obvious reasons, that might not work so well.

Actually, that solves my problem entirely, without having to cut.
