Final Account
« on: February 14, 2011, 03:52:05 AM »
My playgroup has just recently started playing more actively, and we always played expanded. Non of us had any mean decks like fruit loops, or horn filter, but they were not weak either, and we haven't really checked the ban list since we stopped playing around Black Riders. Now we started again more actively, and traded some new cards, and I just saw that Final Account is banned, and I can't really see why. Sure, it is a great card, but there are a lot of far better cards, that are legal. Can someone explain me why it is banned?

It is freaking awesome! It is way too good, you can exchange every card in your hand for the appropriate one. So yeah, it is too good, and I don't know what cards are better.

While cards like Namarie or BRC are legal, the banning of Final Account seems ridiculous to me... We played with that card a lot, and it is not broken by any means, it just makes some fun strategies viable (decieved wizards for example).

EDIT: of course a broken list that abuses Final Account, can convince me that I'm wrong.

It was (in decipher's opinion) too good because it helped you recur the shadow cards you needed since you could keep grabbing back a final account as one of the two cards, and because gandalf wasnt the only wizard, it was easier to exert

It is way powerful. A perfect Shadow draw everytime. GatS at every site.

Sure, but in the cost of weakening your fellowship, a lot of exerts on Gandalf/Radagast, plus 2 twilight a turn if you chain them. On the other hand a single Namarie or BRC can be more than enough to kill a fair share of decks... Also, the rule of four limits its uses.

Ok, let's say that it is too good for standard. But, why does it have to be banned in expanded?

You can always make up your own format and allow it in there.
