Irish Bands
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:32:24 PM »
so i'm like 1/4 irish, and i've listened to the traditional guys like irish rovers for ages, and then got into some Celtic punk a while back. one thing led to another and i started researching some irish history and writing some of my own irish songs. still having some trouble getting into the groove, but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it sooner or later. but in the meantime i'm listening to heaps of irish music, and wondering what are some of your favorites.

i've got some of the staples
-irish rovers
-flogging molly
-dropkick murphy's
-the dubliners
-Gaelic storm

and several others. probably my favorites are irish rovers and flogging molly. but i'm always on the hunt for good creative bands, so what else is out there?

cheers!

When I think of Irish Bands I think of drinking, and when I think of drinking songs I think of the Ol Blarney Stone, even if they are not Irish!

Bell X1 is Irish, right? I mean, they are basically the modern version of the Talking Heads but "The Great Defector" is an entertaining song.

That is a strange, strange song. I wasn't sure if I was actually hearing what I thought I was, so I looked up the lyrics. Utter nonsense, but entertaining nonsense.
