This spring I sought your attention for our special action for an organisation that helps refugees. We raised 10000 euros (14000usd) which was great. This morning my principal invited me in his office. He said that there was an invite for me becoming a representative for this orgamisation + I get to go to Thailand in a few weeks to visit the troubled part of that country......I'm still flabergasted, and overwhelmed by mixed feelings...needed to share with people, hence this announcement.....

Wow sounds awesome!  Definitely take them up on that.   I know someone who retired and moved to Thailand.  Met a lady and built a nice home in the country for 20,000.  All he does is work out 3 hrs a day, work the fields for a couple hours, and kick back.  The only downside is the only ambulance in the area is the back of a pickup truck.   #-o

It is official now. 29th of October I'm leaving. 10 days I will spent in the North Western region of the country. I will visit a hill tribe called the Karen. They are located in the borderregion with Myanmar (former Burma). They are seen as a rioting group by Myanmar and that's why the had to flee. Some of them are living in camps for the past 20-30 years. I'm very excited to go, and aware of the huge contrast with my own life. I will go deep into the jungle, even visit the place where they shot the movie The Bridge over the River Kwai. Now I will get some vaccins!
I will keep you guys up to date!

That is fantastic.  Sounds like you'll get to see a different side of life, which is what travelling is supposed to do.  Plus you'll be meeting the same people you've helped with your charity work (presuming here).  Well done.
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world.  Those who know binary and those who don't.

Well, a little update. I wish you could speak, or at least read dutch, because some pupils of mine built a website for me so that I can keep everyone noticed when I go to Thailand. Anyway, you can find the site at: www.wubsnaarthailand.tk

29th of october I'm leaving. I will fly directly to Bangkok, and then we take a flight to the north of thailand. We go to the border with Myanmar (the country formally known as Birma) where we're going to visit the tribe the Karen. That is a large tribe, like 5 million people, that live in that area, both in Thailand as in Myanmar. Due to the Junta in Myanmar they are surpressed, and there for fleeing. In Thailand they are not very welcome and thus the end up in camps, where some of them have lived for 25 years. I cannot imagine how this will influence me.....
Sunday 9 november I hope to return and, if someone is interested I will tell you all my stories...Oh btw, at the site will appear pfoto's everyday, so maybe that might appeal someone.

PS does anyone know a good gamestore in Mea Sot?  :P
