Your philosophy sounds a lot like a Magic players philosophies. Singletons don't do well in Magic. LOTR TCG can bear singletons, but you are correct the multiple usually plays better. However, having several of one non-unique minion can be pretty pointless.

Lets see

Rule #1 Since I favored the shadow side Most of the time i ll base my card number on my shadow strategies:
- 30-32 (If my shadow need a particular card/cards) 32 if I need it less 30 If I need it most.

- 33 All other deck (During a game you have a maximum of 8 full turns. normally you are able to play 8 cards per turn 8*8 = 64 + 2 starting companions) also throught play experiences, I have found that I am rarely decked. So this his my confort zone

34 and higher If I play a bigger starting fellowship or a better cycling deck.

rule 2 shadow side

Always have 2 way of winnig - Primary focus and a smaller focus (but both must not come in competition)

Exemple: Evil man archery In case you run againt an heavy healing deck, you should have some crowd control (rapid reload and some direct wound, enquea) in other to pull out a stupid swarm if need be, or play bigger minion in other to stop your ennemy and allowing you to make a run for it.

Rule 3

Always have a free peapole that can make 1 double move minimum maybe 2

Rule 4

If you don't know your opponnent go second!

Free Rulz

#1 always have a 7 str RB of aim for it minimum. +1 or 2 card that will protect it in case you are cavern scared!

#2 Always considered the cycling of your shadow side. If it cycle well, you can rely more on spécific card, if it does not you need to use saved from the fire, simbelmine, denethor... card that will allow you to draw them. If not have some muster.

#3 Always have some condition removal, and you have a way to remove 2 burdens

#4 always have 9 companions (except exception!!)
