The Dwarfs need halftime reinforcement!
« on: August 14, 2011, 03:36:44 PM »
Well since NK seems to have all these crazy ideas lately, I wanted to come up with something as well. It needs improving, since it is weak on a few levels. First the card list -it is long- and then I will come up with the startegy section. Input is much appreciated!

4x Mordor Warrior (7U293)
4x Orc Ambusher (1C261)
4x Orc Assassin (1U262)
4x Fell Beast (6U83)

Wow, that is a long list. There is a strategy, rest assured. The idea of the deck came in two parts:

1. One of the Brasilians on these boards came up with These are my People. I know I loved the idea and that was it. Recently I got beaten by a nice 9 walker deck that used These are my People beautifully. He had his comps, discarded the whole bunch with Ever my Heart Rises and came up with a fully loaded fellowship, nice. Tried it myself, wasn't too big of a succes.
2. Always wanted to make a solo deck of some kind, stack some extra comps on Shards of Narsil and and a given moment, make a run.

I tried to combine both ideas.

- Try to go first. Bid 1 or 2 to get Ever my Heart Rises out of your deck.
- Start your typical Dwarfs. Gear up Durin, Linnar and Gimli.
- Stack all but one Gondor companion on Shards, since you can take only 4 cards into hand.
- Discard all Gondor possessions.
- At site 6, play all the Gondor companions, play These are my People and make them hard hitters.
- Play Narsil on Elendil and walk to site 9

Sure, this is the idea, but there are a load of cards. 45 on each side. This is where the shadow comes in. A lot of cards are able to discard cards, some are designed to draw.
- Gollum can unclogg your hand, using his own text or the text on They Stole It.
- Bent on  Discovery work perfectly well with Enduring Nazzies, which are not too cool to double against.
- Fell Beast makes them fierce, so even better and discards 2 more cards from hand
- Dark Lord's Summons can help out a lot as well, incase you are clogging without other helpers in sight.

Like I said, the deck has it weak sides. I played it once, lost to corruption. That sucks. Also, he played Sauron, which isn't nice, though it is so cool, so I need an armor I guess. Well, all input is most welcome!

Again, I have had this before....no one is responding to my deck....Why is that? Just a general wondering. Again, is it too good?

Your deck very creative. I have never seen a deck like this, so I don't feel I can really give any advice without playtesting it or playing against it first.

I'm a little confused by one thing though: Isildur is your ringbearer, yet you say "Start your typical Dwarfs. Gear up Durin, Linnar and Gimli." But you can't start with those dwarves unless Gimli is your ringbearer.

Well, indeed, tehy may not seem to be the typical Dwarfs, but I hate to have my conditions gone, so I value Gimli a great deal. So I try to get Durin early.

I see. Well, like I said it sounds really cool. My only suggestion would be maybe another copy of sam, since you really depend on getting your site 1 out.

What happens if you haven't drawn your only Aragorn copy at site 6? Maybe you should add 1 more?

Until now, that hasn't been an issue, but it is not unlikely that it will happen. Somehow though it doesn't seem to work like I intend to. Multiple times I have been able to unleash the deck at site six, but I fail to tripple move due to pressure. So I look to improve it even more.
