Tournament in the UK
« on: September 06, 2008, 09:13:14 AM »
I know Anvar was willing to plan another LOTR tournament in the UK. I was hoping we could do so and get some more support for it this time.

If we do, I will put together a FotR draft and a TTT draft. I may even be able to purchase Hunters and T&D as prize support. I have my eye on some Reflections boxes which have become VERY difficult to get a hold of.

If I can generate enough interest I will go ahead and purchase everything to make it happen.

Depends entirely on when it is.

Sounds really interesting. Are you talking about getting draft packs? It sounds like fun, even though there aren't really any cards I need from those blocks (though T&D is great, obviously).

I thought that I would try to sort out a new date once I'm more settled in my new job.

I think a Towers draft would be a lot of fun, I would be easily able to get stuff for a Towers draft. FotR is much harder to acquire but could be done.

Another option is a Shadows draft with Shadows starters...dont know how everyone feels about that.

A big prize would be nice for the winner. I could get my hands on the DecipherCon 2004 kit, or one of the anthologys. I also have some Reflections boxes which we could use.

It needs "Rise of Saruman" to lure more Players to UK.

Which format will be played, and when is this event?
How many players are expected?

From which country are they coming? How many days will it last?

Where is the location? How much is the entry fee?

The plan is to host the event in Manchester. More than that is up for grabs.

The last tournament in the UK was extremely "casual" and I would like for the next one to be more formal. Makes it more intense! If we could open it up to our brothers (and sisters) in Europe. Even some of our American buds could make the trip.

The best I can offer you in the form of Rise of Saruman is starter decks which means no foils. I am searching constantly to find boosters and boxes.

I can get Hunters but at a huge cost. I would need *A LOT* of interest to commit buying them.

As you may know, we are organizing Tournaments twice a year, each time in a different european country. (February, August).

Maybe we can manage to play this winter (As I think already reserved for netherlands), or more convenient next Summer (2009) in Manchester.

Please note we are playing Austria Format! It would be great, if I can persuade you to use this format too.

Further more, I would agree for a kind of short sightseeing tour (in every country we are invading ;D between the competition - So we have in addition to an wonderful event cultural education. So it becomes a "deeper" impression.

with kind regards

Elrohir, whoever organizes your tournaments please ask them to get in touch with me and let me know how you manage it. Where do you get your prize support? How do you umpire/judge the tournament?

Lots of questions for whoever it is organizes it!

Usually, 5 experienced Player became Judges. In worst case, this group has to decide for or against something. I suggest to appoint this players either from the country in which this event take place or from each bigger nation 1 judge.

I am for the international cooperation, but there isn't really a Head. This position is bound to them, who host the tournament.

About the prize support: It's bought by the entry free. Where it comes from I do not know. But I know where to get Rise of Saruman Booster.

If anyone has connection to decipher, it could be helpfull to contact them for any prize support. Otherwise it has to be ordered in an online shop or bought in a "normal" shop.

As you wished, I will pass your question further.

You will have to tell me where you can get Rise of Saruman booster boxes. I have searched the internet far and wide with no success.

If you pay for the airfare from Kansas to the UK, I'll participate!  :suspect:
