Karn: Mythic?
« on: September 04, 2011, 09:06:51 AM »
Hope this is the right board:

I play a draft once a month or so with friends, and pulled a Karn in my first pack last night.  Excited, but then I found out that 3 other people there (out of 7 players) had a Karn in their collections.  At the end, another player opened a Karn in prizes.

Are we sure it's really a mythic?

Haha yes, you just got lucky. Our local meta didnt see that many and its just random. I had to trade for mine incidentally!

It does show some uneven distribution, though, since the idea is that, in a small set, a specific mythic will pop up once in every 8 (not sure it's the right number, just keep coming to my head as being it) boxes, so it's really weird that you got so many in a single go.

Unless they all brought their own packs, or as my gamestore does, they dont sell from the box but have a drawer filled.

Nope, I bought the box and removed the wotc shrink-wrap myself.  I've found the best (cheapest) way to do drafts is to split the cost of a box among the players and have the extra boosters as prizes.  Conveniently, our playgroup has 8 people when everybody comes (one was sick this weekend)

Yes, that is how we do as well, although we do it slightly different, we simply get 2 boxes so we can schedule 3 Drafts, and we use the opened cards as prizes, so we play all VS. all, and after all is done, every single opened card is displayed over my huge table, and from 1st to 8th, everyone goes in rounds picking 1 card. It is a lot of fun to rochester a prize pool after a Draft extravaganza.

I can see the appeal, but that would take to long for my group.  We do double-elimination brackets, and people generally leave (with their boosters) after being eliminated.
