What do you mean by "too extreme"? Do you mean Decipher added some truly unbalanced cards (which they did)?
That's part of it, but I guess it's the sense of escalation in what's acceptable--swarming, cycling, OTK combos, etc. And to pick a card, take
Farewell to Lorien for example, which I'm not sure was ever considered overpowered. If the fellowship is at a sanctuary with six companions at 2 wounds each, you'd think the Shadow player could enjoy the fruits of his hard labor for a while longer. But then the sanctuary heals 5,
Farewell to Lorien heals 6, and for the mere cost of

LoI or something. It's just a cog, but kind of crazy the more I think about it.
