Promo Cards - background
« on: May 13, 2012, 04:34:59 PM »
Hi,

I have been looking for information on the history and background of the promo cards for LotR TCG. When were each of them released and in what event or circumstance were they released. How could they be obtained etc. How rare/accessible were each of them etc.

http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/set0

Many thanks in advance! :)

10 was released with a magazine prior to MoM release to build up interest
12-14 were included in a deluxe version of the extended FotR movie (it also came with bookends, not sure what else)
54 was an incentive to attend reflections release events

I think I got 0P1 to 0P9 sent from Decipher when I was a Product Champion for LotR TCG, with the first league kit in early 2002 and they was given out to the players during that league. Also included was three deck building cards, cards with three example deck lists. P010 was in a neat folder with a magazine as was the 0P11, Scrye? Maybe the Duellist...

0P12-0P13-0P14 with the deluxe edition of The Fellowship of the Ring DVD, sending in a form?
0P15 RotEL Pre-release promo 2002
...all Pre-release promos is self explanatory ;)

Other cards, that do not have the info printed on them?

You are right with 0P11, it was in different magazines, Kartefakt and Inquest in Germany I remember (I still have the specific magazine).

(0P17) was so extremely common I remember haha, everyone in our local store had it, it was even lying around there in small amounts to give away.

0P12-0P14 was very expensive tho, I remember a friend of me paid 50 Euros back then for the set in a order in the shop.

Cool info :) Wow! That was some price for the Three Hunters...0P12 0P13 0P14. But they did not come by as easy as some of them, good example of the 0P17 ;)

I would hope the "Countdown to the King" promos were self-explanatory. I can't remember if P50-P54 or P56-P60 were given for completing the Countdown Collection.

Not necessarily - I was given 0p10 with some magazine (most likely Scrye).
New/old way to play Lord of the Rings online.
Give Gemp-LotR a try.

0P118 Eowyn, Restless Warrior (mail-in promo?)
You had to buy some (3 IIRC) Bloodlines booster packs and mail wrappings to Decipher, then they sent you the card.
