So yeah, what I'm going for here is a
complete game, with a final card pool similar to the one given to us in Lord of the Rings. I've already written
every cardlist for all 20 base sets, expansions, and special boutique packages, and the total card pool comes out at
3411 cards. I don't know the total for Lord of the Rings but it's right there in the ball park. I've spent the last month toiling away on 'upgrading' my old project
(seen here), and although I managed to complete a few sets then, that was when I had settled for smaller sets and easier mechanics.
This time it's real, men. This is the culmination of 10 years of design, from when I was grounded as a freshman in high school just whiling away the hours in my room with a notebook and a few dozen pencils. I think my body is ready for this, and my brain is excited to finally
do this #$&*@! some justice. I've created each set to closely-mirror the order of production done for LotR, so we can more easily appreciate each new batch of cards:
-> The first new card type comes in with the first expansion.
-> Reflections has Rares, Plus Rares, and alternate Apprentices.
-> Set 10 will have ridiculous power creep issues.
-> Set 11 reorganizes most of the minions, creating two new cultures and streamlining everything.
-> Set 13 is all about the dynasty of the Skywalker family. It also introduces a new card type (Allies, not followers, which is a reverse of LotR!)
-> Sets 14, 16, and 18 aren't really sets (just like Expanded Middle-earth and the Wraith Collection weren't), but supplemental mini-sets.
-> Set 19 is a random mish-mash of crap (haha not really... mine is awesome!).
There are a million other little nods to LotR I've inserted into each set that I'll highlight as we get there.
Tomorrow after work I'll upload all of the cardlists (off-site somewhere, to keep this thread from being choked to death with Amazon-long posts), and from there I'll begin from set number one,
Star Wars. I'm also going to cook up a butt-ton of new keywords, loaded and unloaded, to help give each new block an added punch of flavor, but for this I'd sorely appreciate some help. So throw some ideas at me that seem to fit into the Star Wars theme!
And please pray for me, because this is going to be a mountain of work the likes of which I've never attempted.
