You Bring Great EvilOn request, this is the shadow deck I use lately. Its probably not perfect, as I am still considering card choices here and there for the free peoples.
The free peoples idea shall definitely not be labeled as "original" but its good. You choke the opponent and let the fighters do the work, accompanied by horned up allies.
The shadow is what I call the meatgrinder. Its slowly grinds you down, until all fall dead.
The idea is to dash out wounds, wounds and more wounds, all preferably before the skirmish phase. In fact, i care less about a skirmish phase that anything else.
The idea to play isnt that hard. You use the trackers to play the
UTWE to slowly exhaust the fellowship. In the archery phase the bowmen deal out their share. You have the HAtes to maneuver kill companions that can hinder you, like Gandalf for his sleeps, or ROTN if defender +x.
A few card choices:
Memories of Many Things: I find this easier as a solution to certain allies you dont want to see. Horned up allies by example, or Rumil... Also decks like hobbits play a lot of 1-of allies, so its alway good to discard a gaffer by example.
You bring Great Evil: Often people go to exhaust frodo at first. if you play this then on Frodo that is suddenly 4 vitality that they wont be using. It also helps from exhausted Gandalf to heal again, or any companion with a lot of wounds.
The rest is basically the core. 12 trackers for
UTWE, A few hunters for vitaltiy so they can hate properly. Tower Assassins have also hateworthy vitality and can shoot that pesky ally that has to die.
Versus certain free peoples strategies.
Hobbits: here the Tower Assassins and Memories come in handy, together witht he fact that you dont care about skirmishes beign cancelled. They usually have zero condition removal so play away with them as you please.
Rangers: This one depends on if they have elvish allies. If they show soon enough, keep in mind for
Secret Sentinels. Also snipe out whichever ally is causing problems (usually Galadriel).
Trust/Rainbow: This requires some conservative play as they have access to Gandalf. Just dont play all at once as a timed Sleep can ruin the day, but keep a steady slow of wound tokens going. if you get Gandalf exhausted with a
You bring Great EVil on it, thats a good thing to have.
Dwarves: dwarves have little condition removal, most often in the form of Well Spoken Gentle-Hobbit. So keep the wound pressure going. Only annoying part is the
dwarven axe discard.
