Somebody please help?  When you play the Evil Men Crooked Townsman, and it says on the card he is +1 for each character you spot - does that mean all fellowship companions including ring bearer and allies AND all the shadow characters as well?  Thanks for the help.

Yes, you got it.

"Companion, ally, and minion cards are also collectively referred to as character cards." -Comprehensive Rules 4.0

So he is strength +1 for each minion in play except for himself, each active companion, and each active ally.  Note that a shadow player's allies/companions are NOT active.  Also note that he says "you can spot", not "you spot": this means that you must spot all the characters that you can.

Remember the Golden Rule of TCGs: All cards do what they say.

Crooked Townsman says he is strength +1 for each other character you can spot, so to determine his strength, you add up the number of other characters you can spot and add that number to his base strength. Simple enough to understand, no?
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

Thank you very much for the answer to my question.  That is how I was playing the card, but I just wanted to be certain.   This site is a great resource, I appreciate y'all's contribution keeping it going.

Correct me if I am wrong, but dont followers count as characters?
