Counter of Foes and BRC

Okay, so BRC says spot a dwarf, who is damage +X first, then you exert. So the 2 extra damage bonus that you get from the 2 exertions should not count, because X was determined before the wounds from the exertions were placed... right? Or... not right? Kinda confusing.

I'm pretty sure that yes the exertions will be after you calculate the damage bonus. I'm not positive however.
I think something should go here.

Quote from: The Comprehensive Rules p. 10
Cost: You must meet any requirements to play a card
(or perform an action) before paying its costs.
(See spot.)

Thus you must spot a dwarf who is damage +X before paying the costs of two exertions on the spotted dwarf. That is to say that X is defined before the exertions are placed. So, Shelobplayer is correct, the extra damage bonus accrued from the exertions added by paying the costs of BRC do not increase the X defined by spotting as a requirement to play BRC.

Is it working like that on GEMP? I'm sure people used to play it incorrectly on GCCG the old days, but I'm not sure if it works correctly on GEMP. I have a vague memory that it does not, but I could be wrong.

Thinking about Gemp's order of operations when it comes to playing cards makes me think it would operate properly. When you play the card from your hand, eligible dwarven companions will have their cards outlined in blue indicating they can be chosen for spotting purposes. Given that part of the spotting is checking their damage + value at this point in time, I would guess that it correctly determines the X value for BRC. So, after a player clicks a dwarf for the spotting requirement, that dwarf will be given two exertions and the opponent will then have to choose X shadow cards to discard where X is the value determined during spotting.

However, it has been a while since I have played on Gemp and certainly longer still since I have played a dwarven freeps on Gemp. Thus, my suppositions about the way Gemp actually performs may be flawed. Sorry I can't be of more help here.
