Some Good News!
« on: May 15, 2008, 04:10:37 PM »
Okay, so apparently my memory is worse than I thought.

I DID back up most of the SW/LotR cards that I had made over at CC. Unfortunately, the cards I did "here and there" for each culture are lost, but the main bulk of work (in the Jedi culture) is saved, as is the cardlist I typed up.

Sooooo...

This thread is going to be where I work on the [Gandalf](Jedi) culture. Since most of it is already done (for now), I'll soon open up a new thread for whichever culture is next (go ahead and vote again for it).

[2] The Art of the Saber [Gandalf]
Event ? Alliance
Spot a knight bearing a lightsaber to take a [Gandalf] force-skill into hand from your discard pile.
"'If you'd spend as much time working on your saber skills as you do on your wit, young Padawan, you would rival Master Yoda as a swordsman.' 'I thought I already did.'"

[1] Attunement [Gandalf]
Event ? Skirmish
Force-skill. Make a knight strength +2 (or spot 3 [Gandalf] cards to make a companion with resistance 7 or more strength +2). If that companion wins the skirmish, you may look at the top 3 cards of your draw deck.
"'Concentrate... feel the Force flow. Yes. Good. Calm, yes. Through the Force, things you will see. Other places. The future... the past. Old friends long gone.'"

  • Choice of Fate [Gandalf]

Discard X [Gandalf] cards from hand to heal X wounds from companions. For each card discarded over 1, add a burden.
"'Decide you must how to serve them best. If you leave now, help them you could. But you would destroy all for which they have fought and suffered.'"

  • ?Circlet of Saresh [Gandalf]

Artifact ? Helm
Bearer must be a knight.
Once per skirmish involving bearer, you may play a force-skill from your discard pile, then remove it from the game.
Regroup: Exert bearer to heal an exhausted companion.
Worn by the Jedi Guun Han Saresh until his demise at the hands of the terentatek, the Circlet focused Jedi prowess and expanded its owner's ability to control the Force.

[1] Defensive Parry [Gandalf]
Event ? Response
Force-skill. If a knight bearing a lightsaber is about to be exerted (or take a wound) during a skirmish, prevent that wound.
"'Anyone can use a blaster or a fusioncutter—but to use a lightsaber well was a mark of someone cut above the ordinary.'"

[1] Force Push [Gandalf]
Event ? Skirmish
Spot a knight with resistance 6 or more to exert a minion that knight is skirmishing. If that minion is not exhausted, its owner may cancel the skirmish to make it fierce until the regroup phase.
A focused Jedi can shunt the Force into a narrow beam of compressed air, knocking opponents away or sending them flying into chasms.

[2] Force Warrior [Gandalf]
Companion ? Human
Strength-6
Vitality-3
Resistance-7
Knight. To play, exert a knight.
This companion may not bear weapons, and at the start of each of this companion's skirmishes, you may discard X cards from hand to make her strength +X.
Skirmish: Discard a force-skill from hand to make a minion skirmishing this companion strength -2.
Force warriors fought unarmed, channeling the Force through their bodies to unleash a flurry of precise strikes and blows.

  • Jedi Archives [Gandalf]

Event ? Alliance
Exert a knight to reveal the top 4 cards of your draw deck. You may take up to 1 card of each revealed culture into hand. Add [1] for each card taken into hand this way.
"'The archives are comprehensive and totally secure, my young Jedi. One thing you may be absolutely sure of: if an item does not appear in our records, it does not exist.'"

[2] Jedi Business [Gandalf]
Condition
Bearer must be a knight. Limit 1 per bearer.
Each time you play a force-skill during a skirmish involving bearer, you may remove [1].
"'Go back to your drinks.'"

[1] Jedi Lightsaber [Gandalf]
Possession ? Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Lightsaber. Bearer must be a knight.
"'...not as clumsy or as random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.'''

[1] Knight's Robes [Gandalf]
Possession ? Cloak
Resistance +1
Bearer must be a knight.
While you have initiative, cancel the game text of each minion with a twilight cost of 1 that is skirmishing bearer.
"There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. / There is no passion; there is serenity."

[2] Lightsaber Sweep [Gandalf]
Event ? Skirmish
Toil 1. Make a knight bearing a lightsaber strength +3 and damage +1.
"'You did well, Anakin. He was too dangerous to be kept alive.'"

[5] ?Mace Windu, Warrior-general [Gandalf]
Companion ? Human
Strength-10
Vitality-3
Resistance-7
Knight. Leader. To play, spot 2 [Gandalf] knights.
Each time Mace Windu wins a skirmish, you may return an opponent's condition to his or her hand and each minion he is skirmishing is discarded.
Assignment: Discard an artifact or possession from hand to assign a minion to skirmish Mace Windu.
"'This party's over.'"

[2] Melted Barrier [Gandalf]
Event ? Maneuver
Exert your knight bearing a lightsaber to reveal a card at random from an opponent's hand. Exert each minion of the same culture as the revealed card.
"'They are still coming through!'"

  • ?Moment of Respite [Gandalf]
    Condition ? Support Area
To play, exert a knight (or spot Obi-Wan Kenobi).
At the start of each regroup phase, if you cannot spot a minion, add a [Gandalf] token here.
Alliance: Spot a knight and remove X [Gandalf] tokens here to play a card; its twilight cost is -X.
"'Before the dark times, before the Empire.'"

  • My Powers Have Doubled [Gandalf]

Event ? Skirmish
Exert a knight X times to make him or her strength +X. If he or she is bearing a lightsaber, make him or her damage +X as well.
Count Dooku would not live long enough to see the fearful truth behind the young Jedi's words.

[3] ?Obi-Wan Kenobi, Old Ben [Gandalf]
Companion ? Human
Strength-5
Vitality-3
Resistance-8
Knight. While bearing a lightsaber, Obi-Wan Kenobi is strength +3.
Alliance: If the alliance is at a sanctuary site, play a companion; his or her twilight cost is -1.
"'Obi-Wan? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... a long time.'"

[2] ?Obi-Wan's Lightsaber [Gandalf]
Artifact ? Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Lightsaber. Bearer must be Obi-Wan Kenobi (or a destined companion with resistance 7 or more).
During a fierce skirmish, bearer is damage +1.
"'I was once a Jedi Knight the same as your father.'"

[4] ?Qui-Gon Jinn, Mindful of the Force [Gandalf]
Companion ? Human
Strength-9
Vitality-3
Resistance-7
Knight. To play, discard a [Gandalf] card from hand.
Each time you discard a [Gandalf] card from hand, you may reveal the top card of your deck. If you can spot a character of the revealed card's culture, you may exert Qui-Gon Jinn to draw 3 cards.
"'Finding him was the will of the Force. I have no doubt of that.'"

[2] Relic of the Old Republic [Gandalf]
Possession ? Hand Weapon
Strength +1
Lightsaber. To play, spot a knight. Bearer must be a companion.
Each time bearer wins a skirmish, if he or she has resistance 6 or more, you may take a Free Peoples event into hand from your discard pile.
"'For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic.'"

[1] Repose [Gandalf]
Event ? Regroup
Force-skill. Spot a knight bearing a lightsaber to heal him or her. If you move again this turn, that knight is strength +2 until the next regroup phase.
Temporarily isolated from the Sith warrior, Qui-Gon Jinn moved into a state of deep meditation to help refocus his strength.

[1] Sense [Gandalf]
Condition ? Support Area
Force-skill. When you play this condition, stack a [Gandalf] card from hand here. Each time a card with the same title as a card stacked here is about to be discarded (except from hand), you may stack that card here instead.
At the start of the regroup phase, you may exert a knight to reveal the top card of an opponent's draw deck for each card stacked here.
"'...in these matters, trust your insight we do.'"

[2] ?Temple Youngling [Gandalf]
Follower
Strength +1
Resistance +1
Aid - add a burden. To play, spot a knight.
Each time bearer wins a skirmish, you may take a [Gandalf] condition from your discard pile into hand.
"'Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.'"

[3] ?This Party's Over [Gandalf]
Condition ? Support Area
To play, spot 3 knights.
Until the start of the regroup phase, each minion assigned to skirmish a knight is discarded at the end of that skirmish.
"'Sorry to disappoint you, Dooku.'"

[2] Thrown Back [Gandalf]
Event ? Maneuver
Exert a knight with resistance 6 or more to return a condition or possession to its owner's hand. If you can spot a second card with the same card title, return it  to its owner's hand.
"'The power of energy over matter…and mind over both.'"

Lore needs tweaking.

Oh, well thank you so much! Getting your permission makes me feel all warm inside.

Menace, are you planning on making more of this culture? The lack of yoda confuses me!

Yeah, I'll be adding quite a bit more to the Jedi culture in the future. Right now, though, I'm just trying to develop each culture's respective identity. I think I'm pretty well-set for Jedi.
