Ents Pipeweeds / Wargs
« on: November 07, 2020, 02:20:52 AM »
Another deck idea!

Ring-bearer: Frodo, Weary From the Journey
Ring: The One Ring, The Ring of Doom

Adventure deck:
Steward's Tomb
City Gates
Doorway to Doom
Mithlond
Foot of Mount Doom
Mount Doom
Imladris
Falls of Rauros
Sirannon Ruins

Free Peoples Draw Deck:
1x Quickbeam, Hastiest of All Ents (starting)
1x Merry, In the Bloom of Health (starting)
1x Pippin, In the Bloom of Health (starting)
1x Gandalf, Returned
1x Shadow of the Wood
1x Shepherd of the Trees
1x Skinbark, Elder Ent
1x Treebeard, Enraged Shepherd
1x Shadowfax, Greatest of the Mearas
2x Hobbit Sword
3x A New Light
4x Momentous Gathering
2x Long-stemmed Pipe
1x Perspective
2x Ship of Smoke
4x Halfling Leaf
2x Hornblower Leaf
1x Prized Lagan
2x Southfarthing Leaf
2x Southlinch Leaf

Shadow Draw Deck:
2x Orkish Cavalry
4x Orkish Flanker
4x Orkish Runner
2x Orkish Scout
3x Orkish Warg-master
4x Scouting Orc
3x Veteran War Chief
4x Relentless Warg
4x Vicious Warg
2x Feral Ride
2x Saruman, Servant of Sauron

Hunters Block sites to make a "pur" Hunters Block deck.

FP side: strong Ents with unbound Hobbits able to cancel skirmishes with pipeweeds.

Shadow side: The definition of a Beatdown Shadow. The biggest problem could be the IB/Madril combo but I don't know how to handle it (see https://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php?topic=11840.0).

I didn't test it yet, I'm waiting for your thoughts ;).

Honestly, it seems like a decent deck. The Free People's are strong, you have Momentous Gathering to play your Ents (and Gandalf) without drawing them, Pippin and Merry will be using pipeweeds like they should. The only issue seems to be Frodo surviving, but you might enough companions that you don't need to worry about it.

Shadow side seems solid. You have enough wargs, you got a strength pump that will almost always be +4. I think, and anyone is free to disagree with this, drop the exert to wounds. If you could replace the Scouting Orc's with more Saruman, SoS's and Feral Ride's, I think you would be sitting pretty.

Thanks a lot for your answer, it's very helpful .

I tested the Wargs yesterday IRL, but paired with a Rohan fellowship. The Shadow is good but The Faithful Stone and Prized Lagan hurt a lot. I need more condition discard, I decide to add 2x Unreasonable Choice, the Orkish Flanker is hard to trigger "Exert 3 minions and spot a mount". I don't know if Unreasonable Choice will bring a lot of twilights, I want to use them, so I want to test 2x Orkish Traveler.
The Scouting Orc+Warg is good at the moment, it kills Aragorn with full health quickly  :uh-huh:.
I reduce the number of cards to get this decklist:

Shadow Draw Deck (30):
3x Orkish Flanker
3x Orkish Runner
2x Orkish Traveler
3x Orkish Warg-master
4x Scouting Orc
3x Veteran War Chief
4x Relentless Warg
4x Vicious Warg
1x Feral Ride
2x Unreasonable Choice
1x Saruman, Servant of Sauron

You're right about the Free Peoples side, the Evil Men Swarm with possession stacking could be very hard to counter. Maybe adding one Second Breakfast?
