This just came to me. Let me know if you think it's got some merit.

Dangerous Goblin

Minion - Orc
Strength 10
Vitality 2
Site Number 4
When you play this minion, add 3 threats.
When a companion is killed, remove 3 threats.

Not sure how useful it'd be, but cards like this would add threats easily, which could then be used for other 'remove a threat' requirements. It wouldn't make losing a companion any more damaging though.

Its ok for the mechanic of using threats in that turn but its crazy anyway. IF you plan on killing a companion, which you really should be trying to do, then its pointless. Otherwise its 3 free threats and thats just bonkers.

The principle seems solid, but in the case of your posted minion he needs some cultural enforcement. And obviously,

has no cards to take advantage of threats...

I probably make a card like this:

"Watch out Frodo, Goblins are dangerous!"

Perhaps the scary thing is that I still remember the original post...

Oh, and ket the threats get removed when a companion is killed, not when the minion is discarded, so it is fairly different to Mordor Guard.
