Private Table
« on: January 31, 2021, 06:15:50 PM »
I was wondering if there would be any chance to initiate an option to set up a private table option. That way if you only wanted to play with a friend, you wouldn't have to worry about someone else joining instead.
Maybe allow the person making the table set up a password to be able to join, or something like that?
The SWCCG Gemp game server has a Private Table option, but I never tried using it so I don't know what its like.

If there were a way to do private tables, I would get a lot of use out of it. I play with my brothers and cousins pretty regularly, and I have often had to concede a game immediately in order to get out of a situation where somebody else joined a table that I had created with the intent of playing against a particular person.

I too often play games with one of my sisters often, and have often needed to concede (or just play if I feel bad). If there was a private table option, I would definitely use it many times.

Oh, this has been added to Gemp by the way.  There is now an "invite only" option for tables, and you can enter the name of the player to restrict it to.  Everyone will still see the table (so it is not truly "private"), but nobody but the specified player will be able to join.

This same feature can also be used to give your table a description when operating the table like normal.
