Merry's Sword/Morcs for PC Movie Block
« on: March 08, 2023, 07:56:08 AM »
This is a deck I've worked on for about a month, and in its current iteration has a nice win rate of around 80% casually. The basic concept was your standard Merry's Sword/TMOR/LoI (even errata'd) that works decent but not perfect. However, due to the fact that Swordthain (the usual choice for this sort of deck) can only use Merry's sword once per turn, then has to bounce into hand, then you have to recur the sword, and so on and so forth. My goal was to make Merry's sword reusable, and maybe usable twice a turn.

Now, you may be thinking "What? Horticulturalist in Movie?" He is the easiest way to fetch Farmer Maggot, who allows him to heal twice. (NOTE: DO NOT use Farmer Maggot without the capability to exhaust Tower Assassin. I have lost too many games that way early on.) Party guest and Old Bilbo's Heir bump that number up, and Escape allows for a double usage. The Gaffer can counter Twilight Nazgûl (who are more popular in PC Movie with the new Vcards) and archery. Oddly enough, you are at your strongest when you have 6 companions on the table: Frodo, Eomer, Merry + sword, Eowyn, Gandalf, and Hrethel. This allows a single sword swing to disable Shotgun Enquea, and can deal with increasingly popular Tower Assassin, Desert Lord, and Advance Marauder. Gandalf is in for the tools and the cycling. The healing engine may be the strongest part of the deck, with Leowyn and the hobbit allies healing like mad.

The shadow is boring old Morcs, however they run ESF and Old Villain/Stinker instead of DaD. This is because an ESF can pull that Shotgun Enquea you ditched in the early game, or simply use up those last 1-4 tokens in the pool, not to mention the fact that Gollum is a phenomenal pincushion against archery. Ringwraith in Twilight is also nice, especially with 2 out late game.

Threats:
Fear/Their Power is in Terror. Thankfully they are not popular.

Heavy Possession Hate. If the meta shifts that way, Weapon Store is an easy include, but it would suck.

Hate itself. If your healing engine is not quite up and running, this can be bad.
