Deck review comments
« on: November 18, 2008, 05:37:48 PM »
Just wanted to reiterate that people are welcome to post whatever deck they'd like on these forums. I've been seeing comments like "No one will want to play with you" or "That deck isn't any fun" not only for overpowered decks, but also for whatever else happens to rub someone the wrong way.

Not putting a blanket lock, but this being the deck design forum, sometimes it seems like those comments are outweighing actual reviews, y'know? Maybe start a separate thread for it, instead of piling on someone who just wants a deck reviewed. What I don't want is for people to feel like they're walking on eggshells here, or for it to degenerate into a back-and-forth when someone making these comments posts an "NPE" deck of his own.

Just something I've seen happen on more than one occasion, so here's my 2 cents worth. ;)

Hear hear. What might be good is denoting which decks are "competitive" and which decks are "fun" so reviewers may be able to tailor comments to each.

um, i do not think fun and competitive decks should have to be stated, you have a deck, people critique and criticize, and you glean what you can. the people who criticize just need to be mindful of what they say. remember, constructive criticism is what people need. not this, "it's too weak, it'll die" stuff.

Yeah, just a suggestion. Not requiring it, but it could help determine whether you want your deck to be ruthlessly and mercilessly dismembered and rebuilt until it'll win worlds, or whether you want a good, fun deck that does funky stuff.

a good rule of thumb is: unless it's NBarden's deck...

Well I agree with most. I like the way decktech has ordened it. Advanced, intermediate, beginner and fun. That is always critical for reviewing, because in tournement environment other rules apply than when playing for fun. Also, somekind of rating would be fun/nice. But that is something you can add yourself.

Anyway, it seems I'm the only one posting Standard decks anymore.

TJ, if you look at the Standard format page you'll see that I have posted almost as many decks as you in the past period. I've been away for quite some time, so I will make up for it...but then you have to review my decks as well ;)

It is also natural that fewer and fewer decks will be posted - after all, there are no new cards.
