Never thought of it before
« on: December 10, 2008, 06:00:37 AM »
How does Dain login with that weird ascii character (the a with the accent on it).

I know that the charmap utility works, but what a pain that would be logging in and out, making sure that exact character is there. ;)

For one thing, I never log out. I am omnipresent. :uh-huh:

No, seriously, it's because I'm an admin. AKA a forum god, and I'm just GOOD like that. :fire:

Okay, SERIOUSLY seriously, I'm able to get around it because my actual username in the system is "DainIronfoot", but my display name is "DáinIronfoot". Yes, those are two seperate things in SMF forums. For example, Elessar's Socks originally signed up for the forum as "Socks". He later decided he wanted his full username back, so he asked us to change it, which I did to the full "Elessar's Socks". So now HIS display name is Elessar's Socks, but his name in the administration panel is still Socks.

Weird, I know, but it DOES make logins easier. ;)
Best regards,
Dáin

Yeah.  Weird.  I presume it didn't work this way back at CC under phpbb software?

EDIT: I now observe some other weird thing happening.  SoP's rank is a bunch of clowns instead of stars.  What's going on there?

Indeed he does, Menace. Indeed he does. We'll have to do something about this....

Ahem, uh...that's because SoP is what we call "special", in many senses of the word.

Seriously, how could I NOT give special privledges to a guy that looks like this?

SoP's spam is on a level all its own. We figured that his long efforts in the field of spamming deserved special recognition.
Best regards,
Dáin

I figured out how to decode your little chat
Caffeine destroys Society.
Society destroys Freedom.
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings (and therefore should not be destroyed.)
Caffeine, therefore, destroys the enemy of freedom.

Caffeine, therefore, is a sacred weapon for the protection of all sentient beings. -- Agent Drake

YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!!

Which is, of course, the main idea anyway, so I fail to see why that would be a problem.
