Yeech. Seems like it's only been a few days. I go back to school tomorrow, and starting Monday will be having a three week class of 3 hours a day, five days a week, learning to speak, read, and write Hebrew. And I thought my history class was intense.
Still, despite the holidays, I've been growing progressively bored at home. In some ways it'll be nice to be back to the state of being way too busy for anything as opposed to having absolutely NOTHING constructive to do, and in response, rotting my sanity to the point of breaking. I mean, I guess I could've been here, but I was too busy rotting my brain watching Atlantis. Or I could've been watching Atlantis, but I was too busy rotting my brain playing Morrowind. Or I could've been playing Morrowind, but I was too busy rotting my brain while running desperately around the Half Price Books, searching for something, anything that I might actually find interesting. Alas, I seem to have completely stripped the place of all fascinating books, with the exception of one or two that I cannot, nor will I ever be able to, afford.
Anyway, it'll be nice to have someone telling me what to do again (homework, that is....) Less boredom, and despite the over-packed schedule, it'll be less hectic than holiday preparation.
The downsides? The dorms are headache-inducingly loud, garishly bright, and filled to the brim with immature and/or idiotic morons, (with a few exceptions) who revel in their stupidity. And I'm not even talking about the people who, say, have a different taste in music or literature or movies. There's plenty of them, too, but I can deal with stuff like that no problem. It's the ones who are willfully stupid that I can't stand.
The thought of becoming sole imperial dictator of the world, however, consoles me. And the room next to ours (which we can get in and out of via the bathroom) is going to be unoccupied this semester, so my roommate plans to turn it into a "War Room."

Anyway....
I really do like the place, but I'd probably go insane if it wasn't for the fact that people -- in general -- tend to abandon the streets at night, or at least keep the noise to a dull roar in the general vicinity of the football stadium. Which means that I can roam the rest of the city, listening to my MP3 player. (It's a small town, and safe, so it's not like I'm gonna get yanked into an alley and beat up by muggers.) I've
discovered that long walks in the cold night air (especially when it's snowing) with a good soundtrack tends to have wonderful psychological and emotional therapeutic effects.
