Frodo and Gandalf...mostly
« on: January 30, 2009, 02:20:58 PM »
Frodo, RA
SaWtC

Gandalf, LotC

3x Sam, Steadfast Friend
2x Grimbeorn
Erland, Dale Counselor

Narya
Glamdring, Foe-Hammer
Shadowfax, Unequaled Steed
Wizard Staff
Sting, Baggins Heirloom
Hobbit Sword
Mithril Coat

4x Mysterious Wizard
Terrible and Evil
Turn of the Tide

Behold the White Rider
O Elbereth Gilthoniel
4x A Promise
4x G is for Grand
Brooding on Tomorrow

This is based on the idea of having Frodo and Gandalf being the main fighters.  It needs quite a bit of work, though.
A Promise and G if for Grand to pump the hobbits and Gandalf.  Behold the White Rider is an insurance card as is Terrible and Evil.  It runs Uruk-hai berserkers on the other end so there is always something for Grimbeorn to "turn into".  Erlands in there for pumps, but I'd just assume run Smeagol, Always helps with Don't Look At Them and NFFatRoD.  Thanks for the ideas!

Make sure to pair it with Troll Swarm for Grimbeorn. =D>

Troll Swarm?  Is that [Orc] minions or the [Sauron] trolls from RotK block?

Don't have [Orc] minions.  Thanks, though.

But the real challenge is to built a trollswarm with Sauronculture Trolls. With all the engines there are quite some troll played for cheap. The others all have built-in reduction! Woohoo. Can be cool!

i've got a frodo + gandalf deck (standart format!), too and it works very well.

start with Frodo, Weary From the Journey + The One Ring, The Great Ring and Gandalf, The Wise Guide. frodo gets strong as #$&*@! and gandalf is awesome against all nasty events. if you gonna play such a fellowship you have to play travelled leader 4 times.

Radagast's Herb Bag
Our Time
Scouring of the Shire
Sting, Elven Long Knife
Prized Lagan
Second Breakfast
Intimidate
New Authority
Gandalf's Hat

... to name some important cards. moreover play some stuff to remove burdens (e.g. Foe-Hammer), something to discard conditions and last but not least 2 oder 3 skirmish events.

to my mind much stronger then a aragorn / frodo deck.

i'm going to make a decklist for you within the next days... if you like.  ;)
