So...Much...Life...
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:35:36 AM »
Since this time one week ago, the following has occurred in my life:

  • I met a girl, was blown away by her, found out she was 16 (I am nearly 21), took her on a date anyways, decided it just wasn't worth the risk, she told me she was already in love with me, I told her I didn't want to see her again.
  • I vowed to never, ever again hang out with or know socially anyone in high school. No offense, younglings.
  • I finished the next scene of my book.
  • I lost 'my' internet (not really mine, but one of my neighbors wasn't smart enough to put a password on his network up until six days ago)
  • At the behest of my doctor, I began taking a new medication targeted towards people with ADD and depression because of its memory-repairing qualities. $150 for a month's supply. It trips me out of my mind for the first few hours, then turns me into a zombie slave who would work for free for days on end with little or no acknowledgment, only to crash and pass out later in the evening.
  • I witnessed the legendary moment when my friend bought an original copy of Final Fantasy VII.
  • I drove to Oklahoma in the morning and made it back 5 hours later for work.
  • Against my knowledge, I committed tax fraud.

The above explains my recent disappearance. Sorry.

Ok, so what exactly was wrong with dating the youngling? Sure, it's not usually my way to go, but if you liked her, and she liked you, well, why be voluntarily miserable? Well, maybe I'm just an eternal romantic this way, go figure...

I have to say that IMO you probably made a wise decision there.

So that would be... agree with FM... 5%? ;)

EDIT: On the other hand, I knew a guy who at 19 fell in love with a 14 year old girl. They both stayed together until she was old enough to be married (18), and now that they have been married several years, they are still as happy as ever. :)

Every time I was around her I thought "Man, I remember what it was like when I was a kid." That thought got me looking at her as a child and the fact of the matter is that she is a child. There's a high school mentality and a real world mentality, and it's just impossible to reconcile the two.

I dunno about the two different mentalities. Being a teacher I see very many different kids with ditto mentalities. There is always a difference in the way you look at certain things, because you are in 'different places'. But that doesn't mean you can't be with one and other

You can always learn from someone else and someone might learn from you... and I'd say it's all about different mentalities. I would never limit my self to a group of people to relate myself too... how can you say all 16 are equal?

Not to mention, can you imagine how BORING dating would be if all people had the same mentality?!? That's part of the fun, looking for that "perfect" match! :P Also, I wouldn't relate mentality with age, it might play a big part, but it's not determining.

Of course you're all right - everyone has a different viewpoint and not all teenagers are "teenagers" - but my reason for putting a stop to the relationship is no less valid. There's nothing directly wrong with being in the high school frame of mind (besides, certainly, how narrowminded and immature it tends to be) but that's not what I was looking for in a girl. It felt like I was spending time with a child and it just made me feel... ugh.

Never again.

Just to let you know, if I have a daughter someday, and when she's 16 I find out that she went on a date with a 21 year old.. look out.

You made a wise move imo.

Ofcourse, it isn't something to look forward to, but then again, you have to take in mind the situation of your daughter. Is she well developed, able of making up her own mind, is she convident and well aware of the riscs and such, than I would have less trouble with it, though I would like to have a conversation with the young man ;). Is she shy, not feeling comfortable with her self, thinking about things far, far away from the  'grown-ups world' I would have more difficulties.

I'm guessing you didn't meet her dad, because if you did, you wouldn't be posting this (it is Kansas, after all). Smart move, my friend.

  • I vowed to never, ever again hang out with or know socially anyone in high school. No offense, younglings.

Wait...this may be a bit extreme! I've been trying to invite you to come to church, but you've been ignoring my messages on FB! (hint hint hint). Uh...so what about just hanging out with people, what's wrong with that? I'm a high school senior but also a college sophomore...and the church invite is still open (hint hint hint).

  • I finished the next scene of my book.

Sweet.

  • I lost 'my' internet (not really mine, but one of my neighbors wasn't smart enough to put a password on his network up until six days ago)

Been there, done that, but fortunately, we have multiple stupid neighbors!

Sounds like....an evil government project. Cool...I know someone who's being worked on by the feds!

  • I witnessed the legendary moment when my friend bought an original copy of Final Fantasy VII.

*yawn*

  • I drove to Oklahoma in the morning and made it back 5 hours later for work.

You do know that this is not impressive, right? Wichita's on the Oklahoma border...

  • Against my knowledge, I committed tax fraud.

AWESOME! He's also on the feds most wanted list! :D [/list]

The above explains my recent disappearance. Sorry.

No excuses!
