Sauron Initiative/Burdens
« on: February 05, 2009, 09:18:00 PM »
The idea is to try and force the free peoples player to give you initiative or burdens.

Orc Pursuer x4
Orc Chaser x4
Orc Stalker x4

Cheap guys who can get big with initiative.

Beseiging Pike x4
Flames Within

Helps when you have initiative.

Desperate Defense of the Ring x4

The key card in the deck.

Orc Slaughterer x4

Exert this guy to play Desperate Defense of the Ring.

Grishnakh x4

Gets cards or burdens.

Troll of Cirith Gorgor x4

A strong, fierce, damage +1 for some killing power.

Grond, Hammer of the Underworld

Discarding free peoples things.

This deck can be nasty if you get Desperate Defense of the Ring early enough and the free peoples player has trouble discarding conditions.  However it never fully seems to get the job done, so I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for this deck.

Thin and Streached and 2 or 3 copies of Some Secret Art of Flame.
"Never Again, will the land of my people, fall into enemy hands! For Gondor! For Gondor! For Gondor!

2x *Fat One Wants It (7R57)
1x *Thin and Stretched (1R279)
1x Heavy Burden (7U60)
4x Captured by the Ring (7C53)
3x Desperate Defense of the Ring
2x Enduring Evil (1R246)
4x The Ring is Mine!(10U97)
4x *Gollum, Stinker (5R25)
2x *Orc Seeker (7R306)
2x *Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul (1U231)
4x Gorgoroth Stormer (8C101)
4x Mordor Fighter (7R286)
2x Orc Officer (7U302)
2x *Gothmog's Warg (10R89)

Use Mordor Fighter and Gorgoroth Stormer with a threat and Gothmog's Warg and The Ring is Mine! to add some burdens. Stinker makes a fighting machine and pincushion, and if he makes it use Heavy Burden. Shotgun Enquea for crowd control and for when those burdens add up.

I have toyed with the idea of alternative Gollum's, possibly Mad Thing or Plotting Deceiver.

I also threw in Orc Seeker as it means more cards and potentially more The Ring is Mine!

Thanks for the deck post.  I really like it!  How often does Orc Officer work?  That's where I'd look to another minion.  How good is enduring evil usually?

Enduring Evil is what makes Orc Officer work... its a toss up whether it works but its devastating if it does.

If you play this Expanded, use Nelya and Courtyard Parapet - this is evil

I like to play Sauron corruption as well, but I do it like this:

Gorgoroth Attacker + Gorgoroth Officer + Gorgoroth Troop. Control sites, play Encirclement and do the damage. I played McTono once, he made 10 twilight and I added 12 burdens...I had 4 sites and an Ithil Stone out.
