C&C series in general is awesome... I remember the first days of Red Alert... nothing like it. :D

Not C&C Generals, though I have played C&C (Tiberian Dawn) and Red Alert. I remember in the last mission of the GDI campaign, it was a sneaky blow for the Obelisk of Light to pop out of nowhere and obliterate my Harvester. So what I ended up doing was sandbagging all the way to that spot to block it from happening. *LOL* An ion cannon attack on the Temple of Nod set things to right!

The Christmas tree Tesla coil was crazy in Red Alert. Even with every single computer opponent attacking en masse, they didn't stand a chance breaking through a triple layer of concrete wall guarded by a row of coils. :)

A funny strategy was to obliterate your opponent solely with the coils. Run a lot of harvesters to get Tiberium, and have your entire base consist of advanced power plants and coils. Then... slowly start building a wall of coils closer... and closer... to your enemy's base. If the enemy comes after you, the coils will get them... Eventually, you will have coils next to their key buildings and you can manually order them to zap the base structure. Fun!

The gameplay in Generals is as good as the other C&C games, but it is lacking the good storyline. I love the intro to Red Alert 2, it makes the game feel so epic!

Reading this makes me interested. Is this a game akin to Age of Empires/Empire Earth/BFME, only modern?

Yeah, C&C is a real-time strategy game as well, like StarCraft and Warcraft (not the MMORPG)--also excellent games and highly recommended!

*LOL* I sat in my base (completely enclosed except for a gap for the Ore Truck) and built a ton of MiGs to strike from afar. Probably wouldn't have worked as well against human opponents, but the computer didn't build nearly enough AA defenses.
