The movie topic
« on: February 17, 2009, 08:52:58 AM »
Haven't done this in a while: favorite movie -other than LotR I assume- and why? Starting this topic makes me think about my own favorites, but that ain't easy. I make a list of movies:

The Usual Suspects: beautiful movie, with lots of unexpected things in it
The Shawshank Redemption: well acted movie, with one of my favorite actors: Morgan Freeman
The Dark Knight: what can I say?
Lost in Translation: Scarlett johanson  =D> and great acting about ordinary people
StarWars:  :uh-huh:
Das Leben der Anderen: intens movie about making choices and not knowing what to choose

Arrghh, where did I get myself into?  ](*,)

Mithrandir I am known to the Elves, Tharkun to the dwarves; Olorin was the name in my youth in the West which is forgotten, in the South Incanus, in the North Gandalf; into the East I will not go."

Agree with all those except the foreign one (haven't seen) and Lost in Translation which has to be the dullest film I have ever seen in my life. Best film I saw recently has to be Slumdog Millionaire, absolutely brilliant.

Go and see Das Leben der Anderen, really awesome. And I can imagine people think that Lost in Translation is a dull movie. Not much is happening, but I was touched by the acting performance...
And AP, come on, Kingdom of Heaven? Please entlighten me, for maybe I'm blind. Sixt Sense, funny story. I was in a so called service cinema, where you can order drinks during the movie. I was ordering something when: SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Bruce was gunned, so at the end I was like: huh is he dead?

SPOILER ALERT: Yeah, he's dead. That's the whole twist. Osment sees dead people. No one else interacts with Willis for the entire film. It all makes sense.

Kingdom of Heaven was good because it was surprisingly historically accurate, had a great score, had a great cast who performed very well, a great director, and overall a very well made and entertaining film.

Really? I mean, I haven't seen it, but from what I had read about it (which was written, BTW, mostly by various historians....) it wasn't historically accurate at all.

Could just be that the reviews I read were overly critical, I dunno.

Batman Begins & Dark Knight
LotR
WALL-E (so what if it's a kids movie? It's still freaking brilliant!)
Iron Man
Cinderella Man

....was I the only one who actually thought Australia was really good?

And did anyone see Outlander? I heard about it right before it left theaters about a week ago, and I never got to see it! Sounded like the greatest B-grade movie ever!
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....
