I have several LoTR games that I've been eager to play LoTR: The Confrontation Deluxe Edition, Lord of the Rings and Risk Lord of The Rings Trilogy Edition.

I have to admit that I have not played the Triology risk Edition. Maybe the game last longer with the expansion map of Gondor & Mordor.

Hope you enjoy

Settlers of Cataan.  expansions ARE cool, but original is best.
ticket to ride is ok.

Expansions make the game so much more interesting. Don't know what the expansions are called in English, but by far the best expansion is City's and Knights. It adds so much to the game. You need to develop your city, and defend it at the same time. You can do nasty things to your opponent -which is always nice- and you have a lot of ways to win.
Last Friday I played 6 games of Catan -vacation, a man has got to do something- and won 4 of them, woohoo. Most of the time we play the first two expansions at the same time. so City's and Knights and the one with the boats. We build one board with multiple islands and just play. Most of the time our games last like an hour. Without expansions, we're done within half an hour. Occasionally we play Large Catan, and that is master!! 18 points, sometimes more and a game of at least 2 and an half hour.....

Yeah, Catan is cool........

I haven't played with the Cities and Knights expansion yet.  I have it, but I hardly ever get a chance to play Catan as it is.  Most of the games my wife like are fun, but there is not too much direct competition.  Catan is a very cutthroat game and I can't just let people win. :)

Last night I did get a chance to introduce two new players to Catan and it went over very well.  One of the players declared that it was the best game he has ever played.  I didn't do that well in the game I ended up second.  I thought I was setup nicely in the beginning with a settlement setting on a brick (value 6) and pretty good values on wood and ore.  The problem I had was 6 was only rolled 1 time over the course of the entire game and one of the guys I was playing with didn't get the concept of not trading with the leader of the game. He would give the leader 2 or 3 resources for 1 brick.  ??? The leader had a sheep factory (two settlements on a sheep-8 hex) and the sheep port, while no one else seemed to ever have any brick besides the leader due to a brick-9 hex that seemed to be rolled once each round.  I knew the game was slipping away early, but I couldn't convince the other player of that fact.  He decided that I was just trying to manipulate him, so he started attacking me when he had a knight developement card.  ](*,) After the leader had 2 cities built on his sheep hex, the longest road, 2 other settlements (1 on the same sheep hex) and a development card that had been face down for the majority of the game, he decided that we may need to work together.   #-o I told him it was too late at that point and there was nothing that could be done.  He then realized the error of his ways.  =D> Final Score: Winner 10, Me 6 and mr late realization 4.

It was a rowdy game with a whole lot of screaming and finger pointing.  Good times.  I figure a couple of more games with the basic game and we'll be ready for Cities and Knights.  :uh-huh:

I just like basic cataan more.  Whats really fun is 4 player with the 5 and six expansion to say, 12-14 points.

I hate seafarers, cities and knights is kewl though.

oh and I think original risk is purty kewl too.

No one has mentioned Monopoly... this upsets me greatly

Also are there any Atmosfear (Nightmare in the USA) fans here? Any other VCR/DVD games anyone plays?

Catan is the best. My old LotR buddies brought it over about a month ago and I'm addicted. Haven't played any of the expansions, though.

Order of the Stick: Dungeon of Dorukan. Takes forever to play a game, but it's FUN!

I like the artwork!  I bought card game called Munchkin that's seems like it would be a simple FUN dungeon crawl type game.

Munhckin is awesome i got a few of the games myself. I saw this weekend in a shop that you can buy a board game of it now, which i wanna get, looks sweet.

Now, I have another favourite game:
Ohne Furcht und Adel [engl: Citadels (strange translation indeed  :-k)]

Give it a try and tell me what you think!

Notes:
The German game title, for those English speakers who are curious, means without fear or nobility.  While this may seem a meaningless title, you must realize that it is a pun on the German phrase ohne Furcht und Tadel.  This phrase is itself a translation of the common French phrase sans peur et sans reproche, which means without fear or reproach.  It was said of the French Knight Bayard, 1475-5124, who was evidently fearless and irreproachable in his conduct.  Apparently the players in this game are equally fearless but more reproachable and less noble than Le Chevalier de Bayard…

I also love Munchkin!  I just recently purchased Munchin and expansions 1-7.  Mucho fun!

Settlers owns, and I own it!  Only really like to play the original and expansion though.

Axis and Allies ANNIVERSARY EDITION!  A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  Do yourself a favor and look up pictures of this massive game.  It lists at $100 though.

Citadels is awesome! Was there only one "expansion" for it?
