The King Under the Mountain returns!
« on: April 06, 2009, 07:30:50 AM »
...or something like that.

Sorry for disappearing like that...again. :ow: But I got sucked up not so much in real life stuff (though there was plenty of that, too), but more in soul searching.

To paraphrase Jack Sparrow, having a child has a curious way of reshuffling one's priorities. So yes, while I have been spending lots of time fixing up things in the house preparing for her to crawl and then walk, and cleaning out the basement to move the dogs down there, and fighting off a nearly month-long headache that had me going in for CT scans as recently as last week, the lack of time was the initial reason I vanished (AGAIN), but not what ultimately has kept me away so long. For the first time since leaving Decipher's forums years ago, I sat down to work on DCs and post here...and had nothing. Nothing to say, nothing to add, nothing to really even prod me to try and do so. I had suddenly and inexplicably lost interest. My daughter was (and still is) the priority, as well as making sure my wife knew how much I cared for them both, and so I spent my "free" time not parked on the computer (though there was still some of that with me discovering Facebook over the last couple months ), but instead playing with Elaina and going on walks with her and my wife and just being a good, all-around "family guy".

But the old itch started to come back. I found DCs and other ideas creeping into my thoughts again. I would flip on one of my LotR soundtracks on the way to work and realized...I missed you guys! :( So I sat down last week to try and start anew, and found that while the motivation was back, the concentration required to dive back into DCs and RPGing and just catching up on all the posts I've missed was still lacking, mostly because my head was still splitting from aforementioned weeks-long headache. (I'm much, MUCH better now, by the way...only at home and typing now because my WIFE is ill and I'm just going in to work for the afternoon.)

So, I'm going to try, once again, to balance things...and yes, my wife is cool with it as long as I don't spend the entirety of my evenings on here. I cannot at all guarantee daily postings by me, but I will at least be checking in and posting new material--threads, replies, DCs, and yes you long-suffering RPGers: the long-awaited next section of Realms--a few times a week. Like I said before, I miss you guys too much, and new DC ideas are finally flooding back, so I'm hungry to get back into the thick of it like I haven't been since...well, before my daughter was born! I feel all fired up again. Let's do this!

New DCs soon, hopefully even today, along with some idea sharing I had while away. ;)

New Realms section soon as well. Just hashing out our next foes at this point and fleshing the last section out. It's big, bold, and hopefully worth the wait. :uh-huh:

I'll also be spending some time catching up on what I missed, so if you see me logged in for a while and not posting, it's because I'm reading. :book:

I am also beginning to put together the second annual Free Peoples Choice Awards, for those who remember those, as well as hashing out some other fun stuff that's invaded my brain the last couple weeks. April's gonna be a great month! \:D/

So, this means you were gone? For how long?
Just kidding! Good to have you back, boss, you can be damned sure we missed you as well! Hope you can find your balance, but to be honest with you, it won't be easy. As little Elaina grows - each stage I mean -, your life will have to be changed A LOT, and you'll have to push stuff to the back shelf in order to accomodate for the changes, until you settle again and refocus. But don't worry, we'll always be here anyway, so...
Welcome back! :D

Kid>LOTR nerds.

that pretty much sums up your post ;)
I've been going through some of that lacklusterness too, but maybe its because you weren't around!
another FPCA would be amazing...I can't wait for the realms post!

in other words, take your time, enjoy your wife and kiddo...and get your butt moving on realms! ;)

Yeah but I haven't done any since. Although I have been thinking about maybe doing some based on the new clone wars series. Its finding the time though isnt it.

You know, whenever you get back to Realms, I'll actually be on here again....
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

Now THAT is good incentive. :uh-huh:

Real life clobbered me again with the death of my boss' spouse (meaning extra work picked up at the office and viewing/funeral attending a couple evenings) and the teething of Elaina. Poor little thing needs more consoling (sp.?) these days. :( But I have finally gotten some new DCs up and been working on Realms again. It stinks having to go back (in both cases) and just catch up myself and feel like I'm wasting time doing that instead of actually working, but it's a necessary evil when you're out of it for months on end. :-S Realms will be done soon though, especially if it brings AD back.
Best regards,
Dáin

Yeah, it'll bring me back. Assuming I have a reasonable amount of internet access this summer... it's looking like I might not.... Probably will, but...?
