Hrethel, Larder
« on: April 11, 2009, 03:09:15 AM »
I'm finding this confusing...still! With Hrethel what is the maximum strength I can add to his base strength by healing my opponent's minion? I would say 3, so max strength 9, and then I'm not counting other possessions.
Cause with Larder you can remove 2 tokens max, right? Sigh....

No matter how many times you heal your opponent's minion, you may only add 3 to Hrethel's strength (that's what "limit +3" means)

What does Larder have to do with adding to Hrethel's strength?

Just for fun, I'll run through a little scenario:

Hrethel vs Shelob, Eater of Light

On table: Web x4 (each with 3 minions stacked), Larder x4 (each with 2 tokens)

Hrethel is bearing Swift Steed.

FP Player assigns Shelob EoL to skirmish Hrethel.

Skirmish begins. (Hrethel 6 Strength vs Shelob 44 Strength (+3 str for each minion stacked on a Gollum possession: 12 x 3 = 36 + base strength 8 = 44)

At the start of the skirmish, Shelob exerts due to Swift Steed.

FP Player has first action: Uses Hrethel's text to heal Shelob to add 3 to his strength. (9 vs 44)

SP has next action: Uses Larder's text, discarding a token to make Shelob str +3. (9 vs 47)

FP has no more actions.

SP continues using each larder's text, removing all tokens to add 21 more strength to Shelob. (9 vs 68)

FP Player passes.

SP passes.

Hrethel is overwhelmed and killed. Skirmish ends.

I'm pretty sure you could say heal a minion twice with hrethel or remove 3 tokens with larder just they could only be +3 or +6 respectively

It's exactly like Trust Me As You Once Did - you can get the maximum benefit from EACH COPY ON THE TABLE. 4 Larders each give you a maximum benefit of +6 strength, for a total of +24 strength maximum.

yeah so if the card says limit X, it is always refered to the maximum strenght you can gain from one card....

Limits are per phase (per card). Another example would be Southron Archer Legion adding 4 archery max with its ability in one archery phase.

No different. In each skirmish phase, each copy of Great Siege-towers can add +2 at most.
