I don't think it matters where we are, as long as we're all at the same place.

Thranduil

I agree.

I think it would be cool to all have custom ranks based on what we love most about the game, or what we are best known for

i.e. Thranduil would have a title to do with DC's, NBarden with broken combos, SoP with spamming, Lurtzy with meaningless spam etc etc

Dain, do you remember some of the old titles?
We can set it up.

Personally, what I'd like is to set up a gold system again where you can purchase things like custom titles and perhaps slightly larger avatars and the like. That would make gold have a real purpose again, whereas at CC it had become all but irrelevant for most of the old-timers, since they'd purchased everything already. Might be difficult to pull off, though, at least automatically. We could certainly do it manually, where users could PM and admin and have us go into the admin panel and do it for their profile, deducting the right amount of gold in the process.

OR perhaps have it so you can set your own title once you get a certain number of posts.

I dunno. Still getting used to what these SMF forums can and can't do.
Best regards,
Dáin

You'd have to add a shop mod... on my list of things to do. ;)

Maybe this one?

The old shop mod that CC was using for phpBB has been discontinued.

You know 'the old' is getting very tiresome!

Can we find any other useful purposes for gold? I'd like to retain my sig and avatar without having to work for them.

I think we can make things like that free, sure. But other goodies, like custom titles, are perfect for purchasing, methinks. Won't be as expensive as CC, though...some of those took FOREVER to get.

I have a few ideas. Kralik and I can talk about it.

Dáin

As long as we're putting together a wishlist for the gold system, perhaps some sort of "donation" feature where we can give some amount of our own gold to someone else?
I dunno if that would be too difficult to figure out, though.
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

Updates: Old CC is now available.
I ran the conversion, and ran into some problems:

1) It does not add to the posts here, but wipes them clean while it copies the other (phpBB) posts.
2) It did not successfully copy all posts, and
3) There were numerous other bugs (for example: it would show 54 pages of posts but all except for page 1 were blank).

I don't think the conversion is going to work.
So, it's back to the original question... ditch THLL and switch? Or leave CC for reference?

Note the following:
-All avatars and smilies are lost
-Special mods (shop mod, etc) are lost
-The original theme is lost or doesn't work with the newest version of phpBB2
-I now know the old version number that Cobra used but will not install it due to security considerations

I could possibly take the old CC, try to fix any database errors, and work on getting it upgraded to phpBB3. However, there is a lot of junk in the database, and all links to cobracards.com are broken, which messes up many things.

Thoughts?

Well now im used to im happy carry on here and use CC as reference. But why dont you just copy the numbers of our posts and gold and transfer them to this forum. Can you edit post count and gold count?

I second Lemon, we could just stay here and have CC like an back up, it is available for certain checks. Especially the decks are interesting to me....

I third the motion.
CC's dead now, so move on, but let's keep the old corpse around for reference.... (figuratively, of course.)

I would definitely like to have my post count and gold back, though.
