Buffyverse TCG
« on: May 03, 2009, 06:47:03 AM »
Ok, I know that Upper Deck produced a Buffy game, but I really felt that it lacked a lot. So, I'm currently working on a project with a playtest group to adapt the Buffyverse to the LOTR mechanic. It won't be a carbon copy, though. There are heavy modifications underway to make this game its own entity.

Here's a little something (or a few little somethings, to be accurate) to wet your collective appetites...

Consider my appetite wetted.    Is this something that actually has a chance at being published?

Not even a Buffy fan and I like those! Mind if I move the thread to the DC forum, though?
Best regards,

Sure, you can move this to the Dream Cards thread. I'll be posting a rules document very shortly that should explain some things. Keep in mind this game is still in the playtesting and development phase, though. I just wanted to spark things up here because the CC/TLHH community has so much experience with the LOTR system that I thought it would be a valuable resource to tap for comments and insight. :)

Here's a link to the rough draft of the rules, which will almost certainly change. But it'll give you an idea of where I'm going.

thats really cool, I love the magic idea. I don't quite understand the episodes though, when are they played and what purpose do they serve?

What he said. What I'm wondering is, what did you use to make those?

I used Photoshop CS4. I have a little bit of an eye for graphic design (not great, but I manage) so I took a few of my ideas and tried the best I could to bring them to life, with a shortcut or two along the way. :)

they look really good. When are episodes played?

Per the current rules draft, episodes are played during the game setup. The player that chooses to go first gets to play his first location and reveal his starting party first. The second player then gets to choose an episode to play to his support area and then reveals his starting party.

Extensive playtesting is going to be required for the current episode mechanic. There is another idea I have in mind should this implementation prove to not be ideal.
