Not Easily Avoided (18R32)
« on: May 05, 2009, 04:10:13 AM »
a few days ago we had a discussion about the gametext of Not Easily Avoided on gccg...

my opponent played Not Easily Avoided to take a [Gollum] card from his drawdeck into hand. for this purpose he had to discard a card from hand.

so far about the initial situation. now my question:

can he decide which card i'd like to discard from hand or does he have to place his hand "on the table" blinded and discard a randomly?

i guess he has to do the second possibility, because NEA says "randomly".

Yeah, it's got to be random. It doesn't matter how you decide it, but it's got to be a card at random from hand.

Everyone who plays magic tcg will know, randomly is always not so good. The opponent takes a card ''Randomly'' from your hand. You cannot decide which card it is. That's why it is always bit dangerous. ;)

thanks Thranduil. :)

how bad for my opponent that he decided to take Captured by the Ring and the one he had to discard was the same... but i'm not spiteful :D

I am not quite sure about this subject...

why does this not mean that it has to be discarded a card chosen by the player... he randomly chose a card... which he don't like... ???
Mithrandir I am known to the Elves, Tharkun to the dwarves; Olorin was the name in my youth in the West which is forgotten, in the South Incanus, in the North Gandalf; into the East I will not go."

No, it means just randomly determined. As if you take all the cards in your hand, assign a number to each one, and roll a dice to decide which one you lose. But there's no reason to actually do that, you can just shuffle your hand facedown at let someone choose a card.

Thran has it right. In real life, you rearrange (shuffle) the cards in your hand and your opponent randomly chooses one from the back. In GCCG, it's exactly the same: shuffle your hand and have the opponent click on your hand number. This reveals the card backs. They can then pick one to discard.

just like the magic card wild research, but i think this card is alot better. hand size is larger in lotr so less chance your card gets lost and you can always play gollum from your discard pile.

You can also play important cards from your hand first before going after that full set of YaLaaT. ;)
