Picking up and slowing down

That would refer to my life and LotR, respectively. Probably the same can be said for a lot of people here. ;)

My wife and I are in the ever-so-complicated process of buying a house and moving, so I haven't had much time to come around this site. How about the rest of you? What's new in life?

Ever since I started LOTR: TCG slightly more than a month ago, I've most of my time browsing this forum, or eBay reading and searching for good LOTR:T CG deals. #$&*@!, I daresay more than 50% of my mind has been on LOTR: TCG for the past month. :O

My nostalgia is what keeps me interested nowadays; my life has more or less completely moved beyond cards/gaming. My friends still go in for 40K and Warhammer Fantasy but I just don't have the time or money (especially money) anymore. I work full-time and, as the last remaining technician at my place of employment, I enjoy the perk of basically being on-call even when I'm off. I'm trying to focus on writing, doing so whenever I find the available time and energy - which means I'll sit down and write an average of 2 or 3 times a week.

I've had a few romantic interests flare up in recent months, none of which panned out. I keep getting suckered into webs of deceit by crazy girls who say anything to keep me intrigued, which - ironically - is the one guaranteed way to get me to run away.

I just moved into a new apartment, a two-bedroom, and I'm not 100% sure my supposed roommate (an old friend being removed from the Navy for doing something stupid) will ever actually come home. That's incredibly stressful, since only at the tightest budgeting and financial restraint can I afford to live here on my own. I honestly don't remember the last time I bought or did anything just because it was fun. Sometimes I hate being an adult.

I picked up Pokemon Platinum again. So many late-night man-hours are poured into that succubus of a video game. Pokemon satisfies my intense, often-subdued OCD tendencies; it gives me a never-ending task: encounter, capture, organize. I love it and hate it, but if I could have a job that only involves organizing random bits of "stuff", I would do it... and probably for free.

So that's where I am right now. 2009 has gone by entirely too fast and I have gained extremely little from the preceding 8 months. My grasp exceeds my reach, which is just about the only thing keeping me going. I really want to attain my dreams.

I echo menaces words, nostalgia keeps me here, i love lotr tcg, but i have sold up keeping only some of my best/fave decks just because I can. But essentially my life has gone way past TCG's.

I also echo your words Kralik. My life has picked up and my gaming has slowed down. My 3 week old son is completely dominating my life from the minute i wake up (after a rubbish nights sleep) til the minute i goto sleep (which is anyones guess, im just lucky if its before midnight). And then all through the night as well! Urgh.

Life will continue, whether you want or not. Every minute goes by, in the same pace it ever has. Isn't it interesting that we tend to think that time goes faster as we grow older? It doesn't.
Take time to enjoy, do what you have to do, but especially enjoy the things you have to do, for they will consume most your time. Don't think that life is better somewhere else, everyone has to their own think.
Don't worry if you can fix it, can't you fix it, why worry, there is nothing you can do!

Well...it is the lack of sleep I guess, but still I mean it ;)

My TLHH and TCG time is somewhat diminished lately, as well. I'm even considering dropping TCGs altogether.
I'm going through Judge School, just passed the Lawyer test, will be starting a new job soon, working under a Regional Supreme Judge (or something like this, can't translate it) and, well, JUDGING stuff (although it'll be his signature at the end, of course), I'm taking a post-graduation course, attempting to get into a Master's program in my State's Federal University, studying for some tough tests to come AND thinking - again - about getting married.

I only found this great tcg after all the sets were already realeased. I bought a bunch of cards a couple years ago and since finding this website have enjoyed reading everyones posts and trading cards.
I did play sda for a while, but now with gccg being so popular I much prefer to play online there.
The only 'real' playing I ever did was expanded format with a couple of mates, and participated in the last tournament held here in Australia with actual prize support.
So it is great for me being a relatively new player (compared to some), being able to use gccg to watch others play and also try to improve my deck-building.
I hope TLHH and gccg stick around for a long time to come.

Like I said, it must have been the lack of sleep, but on the other hand, you got a rare insight in the mind of the Jedi Frog....

All is good, dear mr. Today I will have a day filled with playing lotr and tomorrow will be all about lotr as well. My wife is still happy with me, so what else can I say than that life is good!
Good to see you, and good luck mr, with all the bussines!

I could have said the same thing a few months ago, and I probably will be saying the same thing a month from now, but as of summer, things have been slow and easy, and LotR came back into my life, ironically. Old friends brought it up, and we just started playing since. However, being in college explains this "phenomena," and come September, I doubt I'll have much time to be sifting through cards and scouring eBay for those $1 deals. Nostalgia really is the proper word.

Its been really the same for me. I'm not really even here anymore except to sell my cards. I keep some decks around for old times sake, but I'm not building any more decks or acquiring any new cards. The TCG phase is closing (most of my friends who were into it are moving away anyways, its really been just SdA that I was playing on as of late) and my newest obsession of music as well as working a full-time job and applying to colleges also contribute to my not really being here.

Its kinda sad. Watching a tight-knit community kinda fade out of existence. But that's kinda how its gotta be I guess.

And tada! So far I'm the only person who didn't cite a girl as a reason for leaving/diminished participation.

Let's see... got into STCCG in '95, stopped collecting around The Borg... then got into LotR TCG before Realms released, stopped collecting around Shadows... figured I was done with Decipher and CCGs in general. Then I regained interest in LotR around T&D, regained interest in ST a year later, and now I feel like I'm winding down on LotR again. I guess breaks might last for years, but I still can't say anything for sure. ;)

Just for the record, I didn't cite "girl," I cited "girls."
