wounding orcs - elven archery
« on: September 26, 2009, 12:16:01 PM »
Freeps:

The One Ring, The Great Ring
Frodo Resolute Hobbit
Legolas Woodland Emissary x2
Rumil Silvan Elf x4

Cirdan x4
Galadriel Sorceress of the Hidden Land x4
Orophin Silvan Elf x4
Elven Bow x3
Legolas' Bow x2
Elven Marksmanship x4
Taking the High Ground x4
Reckless We Rode x2
Eowyn Lady of Ithilien x2

Shadow:

Black Gate Sentry x3
Veteran War Chief x4
Scouting Orc x4
Orkish Lackey x4
Black Land Chieftain x1

Relentless Warg x4
Mordor Scimitar x4

Goblin Hordes x4
Unforgiving Depths x4

Unreasonable Choice x2

The Balrog The Terror of Khazad-dum x1

Sites: Anduin Banks, Neekerbreekers' Bog, Crags of Emyn Muil, Caves of Aglarond, Chamber of Mazarbul, Imladris, Steward's Tomb, Sirannon Ruins, Expanding Marshland

The startegy is bid 0, go second and kill opponents company. If not playing against smeagol u should control the sitepath. Favourite way how to get rid of orc with warg is assigning him to ring-bearer and adding burdens instead of wounds, then is time for neekerbreeker and thanks to unforgiving depths it can be played three times. The rog is there against archery decks, in caves of aglarond he can do his job. Against big fellowships there is anduin banks. If u feel like opponents shadow is toothless against u, u can play tomb as sanctuary. The shadow got problems with chokes especially solo-smeagol and archery decks.

Freeps imho don't need any special explanation.

This is my first at least little bit working deck so i wanted to share my idea and maybe got some inspiration how to improve it.

Btw sorry for my bad English

All the extra companions are for Taking the High Ground, right? If so, you should still have some different companions in there, and some more - in general every deck should have 9 different companions. You could also perhaps do with running Refuge, given that you have so many extra companions and kick-#$&*@! exertion abilities like Silvan Elves and Lady of Ithilien (and you should probably start her - she's ridiculous! Or start with Rumil and Orophin who are also a ludicrous starting fellowship.). Bearer of Wisdom does seem better than Sorceress of the Hidden Land (you've got no way to fix your sites).

all that extra comps are for Taking the High Ground, eventually for healing. Cirdan is much more archery defense with his four lives than useful fighter, but I'll change him for something more useful maybe Royal Maiden to get some more comps for taking the high ground?  And galadriel is there cause its elven character so i can add to archery total or when i need to move from underground i can play her for free and than add archery total

thanks for ideas

Taking the High Ground is not a very good card...I would avoid using that personally.

what don u like about it? it adds archery total a lot and when leaving underground i can heal one of my companions or when i cant afford putting comp back to my hand i can play galadriel for free and than put her back to my hand

About Ringbearer:

If you take Frodo, put Starglass in your deck.
If you use Galadriel, take Celebring and Galadriel's Silver Ewer in.

As you seem to use anyway more cultures, take Shake off the shadow - as it is awesome with Silver Ewer. (In this case: Gimli, Sprinter + Gimli's Battle Axe, trusted Weapon, OR/AND Gandalf, Returned + Shadowfax, greatest of the mearas.

Gimli wounds, and may become Archer. Gandalf reinforces tokens and removes Burdens.)

Cirdan is great, but add more events!!

Put in:
Lothlorien Guides 2x (important)
Loriens Blessing 2x (important)

Glorfindel, Eldarin Lord may remove threats - so take just one Into the West, and add Glorfindel.

Your deck is... unusual. I like unusual decks ... what shall I say - you need I line to follow.

I suggest you to take Bearer of Wisdom, as you do not have any other Forest elves.

Some Many Miles, Nocked, Let Fly, A Grey Ship are obligated (you could also think about mighty shot). So you see, a lot of events possible for Cirdan.

Add a Asfaloth, Swift Blossom, to get rid of Wounds. To swim in tokens, think about City of the trees and Still Needed. Sprang forth nimbly is nice too.

EDIT: Gimli does not become archer - his weapon may ad 1 to the fellowship archery total

ok, thanks I'll redesign the deck for Galadriel BoW.
Any ideas how to make shadow better?
