What is your favorite movie block set?
« on: October 24, 2009, 04:43:53 AM »
so whats you're favorite movie block set and why?

mine is mount doom, since elves are my favorite culture and it gives you cirdan, venerable lord, aegnor, QoEaM, Fleet-footed, glimpse of fate. plus brooding on tomorrow, a light in his mind, Aragorn, ET, resolute hobbit, GeW, all cards that are still used extensively in many decks

Not counting Fellowship of course, the set that I thought was most exciting to me was Siege of Gondor. There was just something about some of the sub-cultures that came in to their own in that set. Wraiths, knights, besiegers.

plus saved from the fire, grond, promise keeping, and it also made morcs, Gothmog, morgul ambusher, morgul creeper, morgul luker, streaming to the field... and corsairs...
actually the two worst cards in siege of gondor might have been the premiums.

My favorite would probably be Reflections, if it counts. I especially liked the Weta cards- just because 2x Tom Bombadil is so much fun. Durin III is awfully powerful, but it seems like in movieblock he doesn't become broken to often. After that would probably be Realms of the Elf Lords and Siege of Gondor.

It's all about the fellowship.  Though I started during set 3, thanks to Chang, I still thought set 1 was the best.

Moria, all the way! Then again, I have a soft spot for isengard orcs and uruk-hai

I voted BOHD. Its not a real good set, tho it introduced Smeagol/Gollum, because it was the first foil set I completed.

I voted FOTR.. it has the best rares ever and a lot of combos to be made (rainbow deck creativity).
It was few cultures, but as the starting expansion it introduces very well each culture's flaws and advantages, and their mechanics. And as mentioned before, those cards are still very usable for movie block decks.

Still, FoTR (the block) was a great game.
It beats TT by far because in TT you mainly double-move and there's not much control for decks with a lot of companions. Plus, you don't get to extra-think how to restrain or add twilight any more.
And it beats RoTK because of stupid Galadriel LR which makes it hard to well-plan a shadow deck.

Maybe it's because I'm more fond to killing. Im more of a shadow player..
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that i'm right...

I voted Fellowship, too. It was my first foil set I collected. The cards looks the best, the characters are the best and it has the best shadow theme decks (moria, wraith).

Would have been great to have been there, when it originally came out. Great set!
