hmm here's my entry

Gimli, BoG with
Any ring and Throin's harp

Uri, Dwarven lord with
Ring of retribution
4x Endurance of the Dwarves
4x still twitching
Arod, rohirrim steed
book of mazarbul
armor of khazad
gimli's battle axe, trusted weapon
belt of erebor
dwarven bracers
hand axe

and in the support area
Lord of moria x4
Aggression x4
Mountain homestead x4
proud and able
Dwarven Embassy x4

with 2 threats and initiative, exert gimli to make it a mountain so uri is strength 27, vitality 9, damage +20, exert him 8 times so he is strength 187, vitality 1, damage +20.

with 2 threats and initiative...

You can't have initiative in this scenario -- remember, we're supposed to have no cards in hand.  =P

(Unless there's some way to get initiative for the Free Peoples player without having any cards in hand.)

yeah...cool debate..oh and totally pointless by the way. I'd say, let's build decks in which we strive to make the strongest comps and than take a screenshot, show it around!

I'd rather make a deck that consistently wins than have one companion who is more badass than Sauron.

You know what else is more badass than Sauron? Fourth Level and a Gondor Bow. Or Fourth Level and Citadel of the Stars.

Or two Slaked Thirsts and a card stacked on Preparations.

Well sometimes I'm pretty straight forward and I will pick beating Sauron by strength over sneaky tricks any day  Especially smaller characters, growing extremely large is awesome. I have a pesky little hobbit deck, with the Tale Pippin, that can grow to 24 strength max in my deck, which is great.

I  think this goes to Durin III at Fords of Isen with:

Heavy Axe, +5
Belt of Erebor, + 2
Horn of Helm, +2
Book of Mazarbul, +2
Hand Axe, +3
Ring of Artifice with 19 artifacts in the discard pile, Damage +1 and Strength +18
Dwarven Bracer, +3
Still Twitching x4, +12
Endurance of Dwarves x4, +4, Vitality +4
Proud and Able, Damage + 9
Arod, +2
Elven Cloak, +2
Elven Brooch, +2
Every Possible Follower +22
Dwarven Embassy x4, Damage +4
Lord of Moria x4, Damage +4

Final Count: Strength 90, Damage plus 18, Vitality 8

More cards for Fords of Isen:
Black Breath x4, +4
Black Dart x4, +4
Blade Tip, +1
Cleaved x4, +4
Desperate Defense of the Ring x4, +4
Dwarven Heart x4, +4
Ent Draught, +1
Grieving the Fallen x4, +4
Harmless, +1
Lathspell x4, +4 (while not skirmishing a [Men] minion)
Lingering Shadow x4, +4
Lost in the Woods, +1
Pursuing Horde, +1
Reckless Pride, +1
Rest While You Can, +1
Sauron's Gaze x4, +4
Sense of Obligation, +1
Too Late x4, +4
Treacherous Little Toad x4, +4
Weary, +1
Whisper in the Dark x4, +4 (on his many followers)
Wielding the Ring x4, +4
You Bring Great Evil x4, +4

Total strength bonus: +65

Yes, he's probably going to die with Black Breath/Dart, 4 Dwarven Hearts, & Blade Tip, the 4 Too Lates will cost 16 twilight/turn for Dwarven Heart alone, and assigning him to a skirmish will be a big hassle because of DDotR (discard 6 cards and add 2 burdens), but, hey, he sure is big now! He's also bearing 6 cards less than two full starter decks. :)
