gollum

thanks to everyone who responded to the skirmish question.  now on to the next question.  again, apologies if this is answered elsewhere.

if gollum, her sneak is played and deagol is removed from the game, gollum gets +2 str and is fierce.  if i were to play a different gollum later on in the game, would this gollum also be +2 and fierce ? or just when a copy of gollum, her sneak is played ?

A different Gollum would not be str+2 and fierce. I am not sure about the wording as to whether it's something that occurs once (i.e. in the Shadow phase the Deagol is removed...) or a permanent effect (like, "If you can spot a Deagol removed from the game...")

I'm not sure what you mean here...

But the answer to the question is: when a card uses its title in its text, it is referring to itself only. So only Her Sneak gets the bonus.

Similar to the OP's question:

1st Shadow Phase: Deagol is removed from the game and Gollum is played from discard.
2nd Shadow Phase: Gollum is played from hand.

Is the strength bonus still in effect since a card titled Deagol "is removed?"
Basically it's a grammar question: Is "is removed" a passive verb phrase or is "is" the verb and "removed" an adjective (past participle?). In the first case, it seems like it would only last that turn, whereas in the latter it would be throughout the rest of the game.

Yeah it is. As long as a card called "Déagol" is removed from the game, he gets the bonus.

I don't think there is any grammar question here. It specifically says "while" which means that as long as Deagol card is removed from play, Her Sneak (and only Her Sneak and when it's active) is strength +2 and fierce.

Btw. are there any cards that pull other cards into play?

This is probably a stupid question - but it doesn't stack does it? If four Deagols are out of play is Gollum Her Sneak Strength +8? I expect the answer is no - but can you tell me why? Thanks

My mistake! I don't know why, but this whole time I was reading it as "When..." ](*,)

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but if another version of Gollum is in play, that would imply that Gollum, Her Sneak is not in play, and as long as Gollum, Her Sneak is not in play, its text isn't even active (since the text of Gollum, Her Sneak gives no indication that it applies when not in play, e.g., when in your discard pile).

So, no, the text of one version of a unique character can never apply to other versions of that character (unless that text specifically indicates that that text is active while the card is not in play, e.g., "While this card is in your discard pile, Gollum is strength +2.").
