My Attempt At IB
« on: February 20, 2010, 02:50:00 PM »
the title says it all

Isildur, Bearer Of Heirlooms

Faramir, Captain Of Gondor (Starting)
Gondorian Prowler x4 (All Starting)
Denethor, Lord Of Minas Tirith (Starting)
Madril, Defender Of Osgiliath (Starting)
Aragorn, Thorongil

Ithilien Blade x4

Duty of Two x2
Much Needed Rest x4
What Are They? x4

Invigorated x4
Houses Of Healing x2
Citadel of Minas Tirith x4

two objectives, discard minions like heck and heal like heck, play the prancing pony as site 1, play thorongil and add threats with him and duty of two, you can discard 4+ minions per turn, the rest leave till the skirmish phase to heal with invigorated and kill with the IB.

Why Isildur? You can't use his text. Why not Boromir, BOC, who would cost fewer wounds (since you'd probably prefer those over the burdens given your healing)?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, you might even want to go with Frodo, since you plan to bid high for Prancing Pony and have no burden removal. Between your discarding and your large fellowship, he shouldn't have to skirmish much.

Citadel has always been a must. In IB, I wouldn't use Isildur at ALL, man, especially in Expanded (and I suppose you're using The ring of rings). Probably Boromir, BOC or some resilient Frodo (in that case, you just need some I will go or def +1 stuff to protect him.), then you wouldn't have to pack so much healing (sixteen slots is A LOT).

In my version (which it's not very IB actually, cuz it has a twist), I use Frodo, courteous halfling or Hope of free peoples with Sting, Elven long knife (sometimes threats are WAY too much). Also, if you need to add more threats (AND help you with roaming), use Ranger's Cloak. It helps a lot. Also, Ranger's longbow is useful. I don't know why aren't you packing it.
