Ancient Enmity vs. Dwarven Axe
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:56:52 AM »
Dwarven Axe has one of Kralik's notes specifying that if there is more than 1 Shadow player's minion involved in that skirmish, they each have to discard the top card of their draw deck, but if 1 Shadow player has multiple minions in that skirmish, he or she only has to do that once.

Is the same true of the discard arising from Ancient Enmity?

Well, if you were the owner of one of the minions that lost the skirmish when Ancient Enmity was played, I guess you could ask yourself this:

1.  Am I the owner of one of those minions?
2.  Did those minions lose the skirmish?

If you answered "yes" to both, then I don't see why you wouldn't have to discard.  =P

Yes. your minion loses the skirmish, so you have to discard. Same applies to another player whose minion also loses that skirmish.

You guys are missing the point.

If there are multiple minions in the skirmish, different rules would apply as Dwarven Axe. To make it easy:

Player one uses Ancient Enmity on Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath.
Player two had Southron Scout and Goblin Runner assigned to Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath.

With Ancient Enmity, it states that if a minion loses as opposed to each time a player's minion. With Dwarven Axe, one player's minion has lost during that skirmish, but Ancient Enmity specifically references each minion in that skirmish.

I think we can say safely that since they clarified the text of dwarven axe, ancient emnity should be be treated the same way. At least that is how I will use it.

besides if your running a good [Elven] discard they should have no cards in hand by the skirmish phase.

Yeah this seems like the right ruling to me. Any disagreements?
