Rolling hills Of Dunlend Compostion
« on: March 23, 2010, 11:44:35 PM »
Hello all  I created a Dunlending Swarm army and was hoping on some Feed back
Sorry for not revealing the Fellowship side but I need to keep it a Secret for a show]
down between 10 decks. Its kind of hefty but it plays fast

41
Hillman Mob 1x
Hill Clan       3x
Dunlending Reserve 4x
Dunlending Footmen 4x
Dunlending Madman  4x
Band of Wild Men       4x
Dunleding Savage     2x
Wild Man of Dunland 2x
Dunlending Robber   4x
Dunlending Arsonist  1x
Iron Axe                     4x
Anger                         3x
Warcry of Dunland      2x
War club                     1X
Constantly Threatening 1x
Dark Fury                        1x

The strat is to basically Create a Snow ball effect survive Archery Win the skirmishes and bring out Minions for Cheap Fierce stronger and at time cheap Having plenty of Dunlenders who cost less in the Skirmish phase and getting the Discount from being played from Hand
Please give me feed back and tell me if there is any thing that could be cut out to better replace and help this deck realize its true potential

It looks like a beginner's deck. Dunlending Madman is a pretty bad minion. 99% (if not 100%) of Dunland deck must have 4 Hides. You can use Bound by Rage if you don't have it. War Club is much better than Iron Axe. You should try to play a 35 cards deck.

if you want to cycle fast use those guys from BoHD i would also dump anger since most of your minions should come into play fierce. and also dump dark fury

I would keep Dark Fury since he can't use Burning of Westlfold.

Dunland swarming is pretty terrifying if it is well-built but you have to have enough copies of Hides to cycle and keep your guys alive.

You also have to save some pool for the fierce skirmishes. So you would be best-served only playing a few minions, making sure they survive (pool used by Hides) and win the skirmishes so that you can later play more minions.

That was how I wanted it to work one minion Survives to Skirmish wins gets out a minion who costs cheaper till I get a fair number of them out and Either Overwhelm my opponent or Discourage him from Double Jumping so I Can take the lead. But alas No hides ive bought 2 boxes of Two towers and no Hides at all it is Frustrating ](*,) but bound by rage will have to do

Trying to Amass  as many Decks for a battle between Putridbreath and me Possibly 10-14 Decks a Tournement and Dunlenders is what he has Problems with the most His Archery deck is not nearly powerful enough to face Dunlenders

Well, if putridbreath keeps swooping up as many cards as he has been then you could be in some trouble, my friend.

If his archery isn't good enough to beat Dunland without Hides, it means you could play Isengard Men and beat him. :P

Ok ok, I have a really clumsy archery deck (which was the only option I had given ZERO elven bows)
It included Legolas, Nimble Warrior and Theoden starting--soon Gimli, Skilled Defender pops out with Rohan Allies (Aldor) and Eomer all of whom wield Rohan culture bows/javelins and an added Eowyn, LOI and Arwen, Queen of Elves and Men. Gimli throws Hand Axes, Legolas adds threats to add to archery total and Frodo, Hope of Free Peoples removes them along with a Rohirrim Ally (that also also me to discard cards from hand to remove threats) Aldor exerts to add to archery too (with Theoden and Eomer healing him) plus the bows and javelins of rohan with Merry, Swordthain thrown in to get them back.
The reason Dunlend gave them trouble was some weak draws and movement to TT sites where no Dunlenders can take archery wounds (2 & 3). Then, once he took control of two sites, Hillman Horde stop[ped my archery as well as site seven from FOTR (Anduin Wilderland -- I think).
Because this deck you're proposing lacks site control--it loses the oomph of archery-cancelling Hillman Horde.
As for 10-14 decks that;'s crazy talk---I agreed to only 8 for next tourney.

And about your minion side proposed up there, go with bound by rage since that's all you have at your disposal--Cut Dunlending Madman, an Iron Axe or two and cut down Dunlending footmen or dunlending reserve a tad to allow room for it

*Note to others:
Jackmaclintock and I play a slightly variated movie block. The only difference is we allow sites from every set instead of running just ROTK site paths exclusively.

Interesting, that's what my cousins and I do, too (only we also replace the X-list with errata).

also, Saruman, Rabble Rouser is a great addition too if you nabbed a copy of  him. He helps quell normal archery but against directed archery there's nothing much he can do. The strength boosts he has are nice and protects against double move.
